The Speedy Earth Tent 6 from Explore Planet Earth is going to give you everything you need to make your camping experience comfortable and fuss-free.
The layout features one large room with a divider if your group needs a bit more privacy. The canvas exterior gives you the protection you need from the sun, while the Teflon coating and PVC floor will shelter you from wet weather. The unique external frame is made from lightweight yet robust aluminium, and the tent fabric is attached to it with fabric loops and Velcro to make it easy to repair. The generous head height and double door configuration make it very liveable for a small family or group, as you’ll able to breeze in and out of this tent with no trouble.
With four no-see-um mesh covered windows that you can use open, closed or opened with gussets – you’ll have plenty of ventilation, insect protection, and privacy. When you’re camping with a bigger group, it’s just so hard to stay organised. The interior of the Speedy Earth Tent has plenty of pockets for storing your gear, so you’ll never lose your phone, keys, tablet or torch ever again!

Is it possible to get a fly for this tent? We're aware that Speedy doesn't make one however we would need something as a fly will reduce heat and promotes darkness when camping in a well lit caravan park. Thoughts?

G'day Rob,
You won't find anything that is a perfect fit, however you could use the Oztrail Hiker Fly to cover the rear section of the tent. This will possibly reduce some of the UV, possibly reduce hear and possibly help a little bit of a gap to reduce condensation, but we're not sure it will do anything to promote darkness, as it's a relatively lightweight material. Alternately you could use a Canvas Tarp which will likely block out some of the light and hopefully reduce heat. One concern we'd have with both options would be flapping, it's going to be tricky to get a good set up with good tension to reduce flapping, recurrent flapping could lead to damage of the outer fabric of the tent itself, so if you do go ahead with either of these options please consider this.

Hi Reading one of the re view I get a little concerned about the quality build. What has been the feedback that you have received from this tent that has now been available for a little while? Can it be compared to an Oztent? Thanks in advance.

So far we've had fairly mixed reviews on the Speedy 6 Earth Tent. There have been quite a few positive, but one or two negative reviews. They're hard to compare with the Oztent range as they haven't been on the market anywhere near as long as them.

This Tent doesn't come with a fly like the RV/X 5. Is that due to better ventilation?

The Speedy 6 Earth Tent is made from a Teflon Coated Ripstop Poly Cotton material, so it's a little different to the ModCan Canvas that Oztent use. Single skin tents tent to develop condensation so the ventilation panels and windows on the Speedy 6 Earth would help reduce this, hence Explore Planet Earth not making a fly for the tent.

Deciding between this tent and Rv5. We're a family of 5 (3 kids under 6). Rv5 looks tight with no room for gear inside. This tent seems slightly bigger so better for 5 people. Can you explain pros and cons comparing against each other?1 answer
Looking to buy tent for young family of 5 that's quick to erect and won't leak or fall down in high wind

Thanks for your enquiry. Both tents may be a bit squishy for 5 people to be honest- especially with growing children. While you can fit up to 6 people in the Speedy and 5 people in the RV5, the recommended sleeping capacity is 4 people for the Speedy and 3 people for the RV5. There are a couple of points worth mentioning though- You can purchase separate front and side panels for each tent to create an extra room for luggage or another sleeping area. Which leads into another option- you can look at the Oztent RX range. The RX5 already comes with the panel system and floor. You can also look into the Black Wolf Turbo Cabin and Turbo Plus tents- They're quite straight forward to set up and offer more space.
The RV5 and the Explore Planet Earth Speedy 6 are similar in ways but there are a few points worth mentioning. As mentioned, the Speedy 6 offers a bit more space than the RV5, the packed dimensions of the speedy is a fair bit smaller so it won't take up as much space in the car, but it's also heavier- 29.6kg, and 25 kg for the RV5. The warranty period covers 3 years for the Speedy 6 while the RV5 has a 2 year warranty period. The RV5 is made from heavy-duty ripstop

Canvas strength 1 answer
Hi there, I’m just wondering how the strength of this canvas compares to that used in the Oztent canvas range? i.e. How heavy is the canvas and what kind of density etc? Cheers

I wasn't able to get any specifics for you from Explore Planet Earth for the density of the canvas on their Speedy 6 Earth Tent. From feel though, I would say that it's not quite as dense as the Oztent range but not far off.

inside windows1 answer
Hey just wondering if there is an inside window covering? Our current coleman tent that we are looking at upgradeing from, has zip up window coverings on the inside to allow privacy and change of ventilation with out going outside the tent. we have found this super handy at night when you get hot or cold to be able to change the windows and just leave the outside windows pegged open with the guy ropes the whole time

Hi - we've seen it set up with the awning having a peak on the sides and straight at the front (ie no middle pole at the front). Is this a different design or just an optional way of setting it up? 1 answer
We are keen on the design we have seen - ie no middle front pole - as we want it to fit behind or alongside our campervan.

I haven't seen it set up like this but can't see why it shouldn't work. I guess it may mean that the awning could be slightly less stable so you'd probably have to space the outer poles far enough apart to ensure the awning is taut and guy it out really well.

G’day Ben,
The Speedy 6 Earth Tent is brand new to us as well, so we don’t have a lot of experience with it but we can try and guide you through it.
While the Speedy 6 Earth is a fast to set up tent, it’s not going to be as quick to set up as a traditional pop up tent (where you just take it out of the bag and peg it out) as you’ll have a few extra steps such as design setting up the awning, and putting in the roof poles.
There’s a great video of how this tent sets up, which does through how the whole thing comes together. It also has a couple of reviews under it if that helps you out there as well.
As for it’s structure, this tent has a unique aluminium external frame which looks to be very sturdy, and it’s made from Teflon coated polycotton that’s rated to 2000mm so it should keep out the rain. We do have a lot of confidence in the brand, but it is hard to give you a solid answer as we haven’t had any feedback on the tent yet.

Thanks for the feedback, I did see one and it looks a bit roomier then the Rv 5, and better airflow possibly. I currently have a large dome tent that I'm over setting up, so I'm sure this is quicker

Hi Ben. Only thing I would be cautious is very windy weather in any tent. It is best to take your tent down if the wind starts to blow your tent around to avoid damage, as wind and water damage is not covered under Manufacturer Warranty.

That's certainly not what we're trying to say, more so that if there's a full-blooded storm on the way where you'd expect some pretty full on winds, then it might be worth erring on the side of caution.
