Nowadays even the most basic traveller needs some sort of device charger for off the road journeys. The Biolite SolarPanel 5 is a green energy conduit that can charge your phone, tablets and other gear with just the rays from the sun.
This gadget features BioLite’s Optimal Sun System which is basically a sundial that aligns to the sun to get maximum charge to the device, which is a pretty unique feature. All you have to do angle it towards the sun, plug your device in and watch it start charging right there and then. The Ultraslim design makes it lightweight and portable so you can easily slip it in with the rest of your gear, or it can even be clipped onto the back to gather rays when you’re out walking or hiking.
This design features a 360° kickstand, which enables you to stand it on a flat surface or hang it off a tree, tent or table. For an ultra-minimal, battery-free panel that charges your devices in real time, you can't go past the Biolite Solar Panel 5 for efficiency and quality.

Voltage output 1 answer
Is the voltage output regulated? What is the voltage output?
Karen - Mount Clear (5 years ago)
G'day Karen,
The BioLite SolarPanel 5 doesn't have a built-in regulator, but they are limited to 5 watts of output via USB. This will mean you can plug a USB cable straight into it to charge your phone, camera or tablet.

Would it charge the portable rechargeable air cooler1 answer
Will this charge the air cooler I’m buying
Denise - Goulburn (5 years ago)
G'day Denise,
The Biolite SolarPanel 5 uses a 5V USB output, so if the cooler you're looking at charges via a USB connection you might be ok. Having said that these panels are really meant to charge things like mobile phones and cameras so I have a feeling it might not be powerful enough for what you need, but not knowing which cooler you're looking at I can't be sure.
