Most beach sunshades are aimed at your typical size family. Well, the good folks at Coleman realise that not all families are the same. Some are big. So they created the Coleman Event 14.

Boasting a CPAI-84 fire retardant and UPF50+ canopy, this shade will keep your family protected from the harsh summer sun. Easy to set up with 8 stock-corded poles, this it has a whopping 2.3m internal height which’ll accommodate even the tallest of cousins. And it packs down relatively small, so you don’t need a truck to cart it to that Sunday picnic, the beach, or your next cricket match.

A peggable 'sunwall' is included allowing for wind protection and privacy, making the Event 14 a great summer beach shade for the extended family.

  • 75D/185T fabric
  • UPF50+ rated
  • Includes 1 x sunwall
  • Additional sunwalls can be purchased seperately

Nice and simple construction.

Did a trial assembly in the backyard. Looks good and looking forward to using it for real.

Lots of room

Plenty of room - could be put up by 1 person but easier with 2. Up for about a week in moderately strong winds & handled it ok. Easy to pack away. Very happy.

A1

Snowy s can't be beaten for price or service.

Shipping was instant.

Coleman Event 14 is a family shelter; thus big, really big. It assembles easily although it's certain not a job for one.

I'm unsure of the quality as yet as it's only been erected twice but despite looking strong one of the joints between poles disconnected (can fix) and separated what should have been joined.
Other than this tiny issue, it's. Been great. You'll love it. Do yourself a favour and buy one.

Best price

I doubt whether you'll find this shelter cheaper elsewhere.

Extremely Big

Seriously big! Too large for 2 people but great for anymore. Ties down very easily and handles wind without problem.

Great quality

An excellent shelter which I can tell is going to last a long time. One of the pole joins got jammed together the first time we used it but we eventually got it out. Fast delivery and great price.

100% happy

We are so in love with this gazebo! So easy to put up. Perfect for camping and would definitely recommend a side wall or two when purchasing. We often use it in the backyard so the kids can play on the grass but out of the sun. Absolutely no regrets with this purchase. Thanks Coleman.

Great investment!

So happy we bought this. It's big, easy to put up
and it's shape helps to add to the shaded area over the
traditional square marquees. Highly recommend.
Snowys were awesome as well. Outstanding price
and was delivered within a few days from their
location in SA to us on coastal NSW.

Differences to Deluxe Event 14?1 answer

Hi, what are the differences between this one and the deluxe? Thank you.

- Yokine(3 weeks ago)

G'day Jacqui,

The 150 denier fabric used to make the Coleman Event 14 Deluxe Sun Shelter is double the strength of the 75 denier used in the regular Coleman Event 14 Sun Shelter.

Is there any pocket and loop to hang lantern?1 answer

Just want to know whether there's any pocket and loop for lantern. And is that a skylight in the middle?

- 2911(8 months ago)

G'day Ruby,

I've just checked out the display model, and it looks like there isn't a loop to hang a lantern. The middle of this shelter actually has a mesh panel at the top which looks to be for ventilation.

Pair with InstantUp 10p1 answer

Am interested in pairing this with the Instant Up Gold 10p - basically the thought is not to use the long-side awning but tack on the Event 14 for more family space. Any thoughts on how they would interact?

- Mount Hawthorn (8 months ago)

G'day Richard,

I've just had a chat with Coleman, and they've said that tacking on the Event 14 to the Instant Up 10 is not something they would recommend - as they're not designed to be used together like that, so it might actually be a bit unsafe Richard.

Does it come in different colours on the trim? Or plain white?1 answer

After a different colour

- Rowville (9 months ago)

G'day Becky,

The Event 14 Sunshelter doesn't come in different colours, but it does come in a deluxe version called the Event 14 Deluxe which has a heavier duty canopy. This model is green and white, but it isn't the same as the standard Event 14 if that makes sense.

What size mesh ground cover would be best for this?1 answer

I want to get a mesh tarp for the ground underneath, what size would you recommend?

- Sippy Downs (9 months ago)

G’day Jess,

There isn’t a perfect size for the Event 14, so the best thing to do would be to use two of the 2.44 x 4.88 Ultramesh tarps with the longer side laid down next to each other to completely as the Event 14 shelter as it's 426W x 426L.

Sand proof?1 answer

Is it good for the beach, or will the sand get into the poles and ruin them?

- Bardon(12 months ago)

G'day Jan,

These are very popular down at the beach and are fine to use there in the sand! Of course you should try and keep it clean and dry, so you may want to get it out when you get back home to clean it, and make sure to rinse it if you get any saltwater on it.

What are the dimensions of shade when it's packed away into its carry bag? 1 answer

- YEPPOON, QLD(1 year ago)
G'day Matt - Good question, as the 'packed' size we have listed under specifications is the shipped packed size. There isn't a lot of difference, but I've just measured it in at 99.5L x 27W x 24H cm. Hope that helps and will fit for you. :) Cheers, Paul

How easy is it to put up as I am on my own 1 answer

- FOREST GLEN, QLD(1 year ago)
It's always going to be easier with two people Di, but doable with one. You need to piece all the pole parts together, then throw the canopy over the top which will require some perseverance by yourself. Windy conditions may add some challenges, but it's achievable.

Is the Coleman shade structure waterproof1 answer

Is this structure weatherproof

- Whitfield/cairns(3 years ago)
Hi Jennifer, the canopy on Coleman Event 14 shelters have a 450mm waterhead rating. They are designed primarily as a sun shelter but will offer some protection in light showers.
