Coleman Event 14 Sun Shelter + Sunwall - How to setup and pack away Watch video

Most beach sunshades are aimed at your typical size family. Well, the good folks at Coleman realise that not all families are the same. Some are big. So they created the Coleman Event 14.

Boasting a CPAI-84 fire retardant and UPF50+ canopy, this shade will keep your family protected from the harsh summer sun. Easy to set up with 8 stock-corded poles, this it has a whopping 2.3m internal height which’ll accommodate even the tallest of cousins. And it packs down relatively small, so you don’t need a truck to cart it to that Sunday picnic, the beach, or your next cricket match.

A peggable 'sunwall' is included allowing for wind protection and privacy, making the Event 14 a great summer beach shade for the extended family.

  • 75D/185T fabric
  • UPF50+ rated
  • Includes 1 x sunwall
  • Additional sunwalls can be purchased seperately

Event 14

Awesome gazebo! It only took 20 mins to put together first time, very easy to put together and pull down as well. Well made, and the sun walls and shade walls are great for weather changes.

"Gone with the Wind"

Our beautiful gazebo, used three times; once for our B&B guests, once for our friends and then for ourselves, unfortunately was caught in a ferocious wind storm, and shredded

We loved it for the short tine we had it and are considering purchasing another one.

Event 14 number 3

Love the product. Shade in summer & keeps the winter cold night air off.
We use ours camping, summer by the beach & winter in the alps. Strong winds can cause damage. Only set back is Cover does not last long due to UV. We cook under it and enjoy extending outdoor activities. Cheers

Love the product and great service

Perfect for my backyard instead of a full veranda. Gives me more outdoor living space. Lots of alfresco dining.

Coleman 14

I love the space I have had other shade cobanas and I'm loving this the best. It is a bit heavy to carry but the weight is needed to hold it down, If its ties down and tent pegged there isn't a problem with the wind, although we had a slight tear from some wind gusts, but warranty sorted this for us. I love this coleman, its a great shaded space, its easy to put up also.

Event 14 Sun Shelter + Sunwall

love this product is my 3rd one

Not happy at all.

I bought this thinking that this shelter would be awesome - it's Coleman and it's dome shaped. Don't be fooled though because it's nothing like a dome tent. The poles are metal rigid sections which slot into each other, they are not like dome tent poles at all so the dome shape doesn't really contribute to any kind of strength. I'm writing this review because my shelter is now not usable!! After only three hours in my own backyard with only moderate wind, two poles are bent so badly I cannot separate them!! I didn't even get to use this thing because it's broken even before my guests have arrived!!

Response from Snowys Jan 08 2018

Thanks for sharing your review Warren, although I'm sorry to hear that two of your poles have already taken a hit. If it wasn't super windy and you pegged the shelter out correctly, it'll be a piece of cake to sort out a warranty replacement on the poles.

To get the ball rolling, can you send us an email ([email protected]) with a couple of photos and a bit more information on how it happened. We'll quickly get it onto Coleman and work out a solution right away. Laine

Does canopy from Coleman Event 14 Deluxe fit the standard Event 14 frame? 1 answer

And if so, what is the cost of just the Deluxe canopy please? Our Event 14 canopy just tore in a severe wind storm but the frame is still in perfect condition.

- 3844(1 month ago)

G'day Melissa,

I'm sorry to hear about your canopy. The good news though is that the frame of the standard is the exact same as the Coleman Event 14 Sun Shelter. We'd need to order the canopy in for you though, so give us a call on 1300 914 007 and one of our friendly customer service reps will be able to get that all sorted and work out the price for you.

Does it come in a bag?1 answer

Just wondering whether this shade comes with a bag for it to be packed into?

- Tumby Bay(2 months ago)

G'day Lisa,

Good news! The Coleman Event 14 Sun Shelter Sunwall does come in a carry bag. That should make it nice and easy to take on all your adventures!

Differences to Deluxe Event 14?1 answer

Hi, what are the differences between this one and the deluxe? Thank you.

- Yokine(4 months ago)

G'day Jacqui,

The 150 denier fabric used to make the Coleman Event 14 Deluxe Sun Shelter is double the strength of the 75 denier used in the regular Coleman Event 14 Sun Shelter.

Is there any pocket and loop to hang lantern?1 answer

Just want to know whether there's any pocket and loop for lantern. And is that a skylight in the middle?

- 2911(11 months ago)

G'day Ruby,

I've just checked out the display model, and it looks like there isn't a loop to hang a lantern. The middle of this shelter actually has a mesh panel at the top which looks to be for ventilation.

Pair with InstantUp 10p1 answer

Am interested in pairing this with the Instant Up Gold 10p - basically the thought is not to use the long-side awning but tack on the Event 14 for more family space. Any thoughts on how they would interact?

- Mount Hawthorn (11 months ago)

G'day Richard,

I've just had a chat with Coleman, and they've said that tacking on the Event 14 to the Instant Up 10 is not something they would recommend - as they're not designed to be used together like that, so it might actually be a bit unsafe Richard.

Does it come in different colours on the trim? Or plain white?1 answer

After a different colour

- Rowville (12 months ago)

G'day Becky,

The Event 14 Sunshelter doesn't come in different colours, but it does come in a deluxe version called the Event 14 Deluxe which has a heavier duty canopy. This model is green and white, but it isn't the same as the standard Event 14 if that makes sense.

What size mesh ground cover would be best for this?1 answer

I want to get a mesh tarp for the ground underneath, what size would you recommend?

- Sippy Downs (1 year ago)

G’day Jess,

There isn’t a perfect size for the Event 14, so the best thing to do would be to use two of the 2.44 x 4.88 Ultramesh tarps with the longer side laid down next to each other to completely as the Event 14 shelter as it's 426W x 426L.

Sand proof?1 answer

Is it good for the beach, or will the sand get into the poles and ruin them?

- Bardon(1 year ago)

G'day Jan,

These are very popular down at the beach and are fine to use there in the sand! Of course you should try and keep it clean and dry, so you may want to get it out when you get back home to clean it, and make sure to rinse it if you get any saltwater on it.

What are the dimensions of shade when it's packed away into its carry bag? 1 answer

- YEPPOON, QLD(1 year ago)
G'day Matt - Good question, as the 'packed' size we have listed under specifications is the shipped packed size. There isn't a lot of difference, but I've just measured it in at 99.5L x 27W x 24H cm. Hope that helps and will fit for you. :) Cheers, Paul

How easy is it to put up as I am on my own 1 answer

- FOREST GLEN, QLD(1 year ago)
It's always going to be easier with two people Di, but doable with one. You need to piece all the pole parts together, then throw the canopy over the top which will require some perseverance by yourself. Windy conditions may add some challenges, but it's achievable.

Is the Coleman shade structure waterproof1 answer

Is this structure weatherproof

- Whitfield/cairns(3 years ago)
Hi Jennifer, the canopy on Coleman Event 14 shelters have a 450mm waterhead rating. They are designed primarily as a sun shelter but will offer some protection in light showers.
