For families that like to camp together, but who need that extra privacy and space the Black Wolf Turbo Lite Cabin 450 will have you covered. The Turbo range from Black Wolf is known for its durability, ease of set up, and lightweight construction so it’s the perfect range for a fuss free camping experience.
This newly updated range has tape sealed seams where the floor and tent wall meets, and the fly has wider corners to guard against water leakage. In windy conditions the extra reinforcing along the roof poles, and the stronger mesh on the windows and doors will add to the robustness of this tent.
The large awning can be turned into an extended living area with optional panels, or it can be sectioned off with an optional screen room for a fully enclosed space. The added PVC storm flaps at the bottom of the optional front and side panels will help keep your awning dry in wet weather, and the zips and Velcro on the panels attach to the fly to allow for tape sealing for added water protection.
The six way hub provides extra headroom and the two rooms sit side by side so they can be zipped up for privacy or left open to make one large room. For a weather proof and stress free larger cabin tent, you can’t go past the Turbo Lite Cabin 450 tent from Black Wolf.
Just returned our very first camp with this huge tent. Orientation is difficult but set up is relatively quick...and we did it with 2 females (56 and 14). Once the fly is off the quickest part of breaking camp is collapsing the tent - and stuffing it into the bag doesn't take long either as it's a generous sized bag. I have a 4 person dome tent from Blackwolf I bought 8 years ago and the quality doesn't compare. The Turbo Lite Cabin 450 ripped on first use - 2 small holes that duct tape will fix but my 8 year old tent doesn't have one hole. I found the middle wall poorly designed. I'd prefer it to be able to be a solid wall that could be opened up completely to the bit of lightweight curtain that is NOT attached at the floor. Whilst the cabin is large we could only get stretchers/blow up mattresses around 2 sides of each "room" as they are 20 cms too short to fit in a third stretcher in a |_| configuration. So with 4 beds around the 3 walls there is only the middle of the tent to stow gear in. The fly screens and door zips do not combine so you can't open both at the same time or just one, the screen door and tent door are separate entities. The tent well is deep, very deep. One really has to lift the leg up to get over it...a fair amount of tripping ocurred. There are no luxuries in this tent...no compartments for gear, the walls are too thin for anything structured. This tent is not my favourite. That would be the quality dome tent from 8 years ago which unfortunately, only 3 people can crowd into. This tent is good for lots of people who don't own any clothes or 2 people and then a gear room. I also bought the screen room....my opinion on this is still out. Would I buy this tent again....I'm considering selling it so I think not.
Thanks for sharing your experience - very helpful for anyone looking for a large family size Turbo Tent. If we can do anything to help with your punctures, please send us an email (email@example.com). Laine
We we looking for an easy-up tent that had flexible space options inside. This tent is ideal for a couple who wish to 'glamp' enabling the setup of a queen bed with plenty of room either side, and luggage. The room divider is flexible with the continuous floor, or a narrower door space between sections. Tent was super fast to put up, and put away. Having owned a few family size tents in the past, it took some time to get used to having no internal window coverings, with the only privacy covering on the outside. This made the tent a bit dark during the day. Our only dislike is the high door openings (most tents zip open to ground level), and the thin floor. We put our tent on a ground sheet, which made the floor a bit slippery and unstable, and tricky to sweep clean. A thicker floor would obviously add some weight to the tent, but would feel more secure underfoot.
We also purchased the mesh extension, thinking it would create a third space for added storage and dining. I could only judge from the pictures online, so didn't't see it in action till we arrived at our camp site. I assumed it would velcro onto the existing fly, with an open floor, but it turned out to be a complete 'cell' which clipped and anchored to the tent poles. It took some time to get the tensions right, and was difficult to work out. It also had a complete floor, with the same thin plastic floor, which was also slippery, requiring us to put rubber mats on top to prevent slipping. Also meant double screens on the internal door, reducing the air flow considerably. In hindsight, would have chosen the solid wall options with windows.
Otherwise, a great tent!
We used our Turbo Lite Cabin 450 tent for the first time last week and as first time campers we are very happy with our purchase. It is easy and quick to erect, has loads of space and withstood 35-40 km hour winds with ease. We purchased the groundsheet to go with it and feel that this is what made it so easy to set up as we were able to use that to work out where best to place the tent.
In continuance of my feedback from 9 April, 2017- thanks to Nick for an excellent customer service and timely resolution of the issue.
We used the tent first time during our 6 nights camping at Diamond Head NP. The tent is very easy to set up and quite specious. Make sure you do a test set up before first use. Our total set time was around 40 mins (first time) with all guy ropes pegged and side and front walls installed. The front and side walls are highly recommended as they provide lots of extra space which can be used for almost anything- cooking, sitting, storage etc. We didn’t had any high wing conditions but it rained once and no leak at all. The rainfly has some excellent rain repellent properties.
Also purchase some other items from Snowys and overall very happy with the products and customer service.
Bought this tent on 22 March 17 and very impressed with Snow’s quick delivery. However, during a test set up in our backyard, we realised that the rainfly had few holes in it. Contacted Snowy’s customer care the very next day & I was advised that this matter has been escalated to their warranty department. More than a week now since I first contacted Snowy but even after long chain of communication and follow up calls, I haven’t received any outcome from Black Wolf yet. We now have just four days remaining before we go camping during school holidays. Not at all happy with Black Wolf approach towards warranty claims. I have also found online similar reviews from many customers reg. poor warranty claims / customer service by Black Wolf. Hoping for a quick resolution and replacement rainfly asap. However, I'll keep posting any updates…… Probably our first and last product from Black Wolf.. ☹
Thanks for posting your review Mahesh - we jumped onto Black Wolf as soon as we read it.
Nick (in customer support) will be calling you any second now to tell you the good news - Black Wolf will be sending you a replacement fly from their Sydney warehouse, which should be on your doorstep in the next day or two.
We're sorry that you've been stuffed around - hope you have a relaxing weekend with your family. Laine :)
Turbo Lite delivered as replacement for shredded Coleman Montana in windy Merimbula Shorepoint.
Instructions (we actually read them) need tidy up (extension of cnr poles not clear) with extra step to check that tent is attached to central cluster (ours wasnt) turned what would be 2 min setup to 30 min in wind.
This tent is by far the best we have used EVER. Sturdy, tough, well made. Soooo much space inside and out, the extra front and side walls we purchased for the awning are a MUST! Adds another room and protects all our stuff well from the rain. Stood up well in around 50km winds, hardly moved. Made camping so much more enjoyable for our family this year. And we didn't have to use our separate gazebo! Def recommend the tent and Snowys for their excellent service. Five stars all the way.
This tent is quite tough as we had torrential rain and 50km/h winds !
It stood strong and kept my family and I of 6, perfectly dry.
The awning is a very smart idea as with a big family you need room for all your chairs and camping gear and it did that with ease !
The price is certainly reasonable as you get what your paying for.
I would recommend this to anyone with a large family or group looking to camp without being cramped in a small, uncomfortable space
I give it 5 Stars !
Is this the latest 2017 model?
This is the current season 16/17 Black Wolf Turbo Lite Cabin 450 tent.
We don't currently have a 450 on display, but we may be able to make it happen. If you're super keen on getting us to set one up for you then give us a call on 1300 914 007 and we'll see what we can do.
I can't seem to find anywhere in Melbourne that has one of these models erected for inspection ?
We are actually based in Adelaide so I am unsure where you might see one of these erected in your state. It may be a good idea to ring around of some of the larger camping stores in your area, or look up who stocks Black Wolf Turbos in your area online.
What material is the central hub connecting the poles made from ?
The centre hub on the Turbo Lite Cabin 450 tent is made from a durable and strong plastic.
The design looks great but are the larger and higher wall areas as stable in strong winds than the smaller Turbo models ?
This is a fantastic tent, with plenty of space and very well made. It is a good stable tent as long as it is erected as per the instructions.
When you peg a tent out it is best to ensure that the floor is good and tight and well pegged out, and make sure before erecting the frame and guy ropes that all doors and windows are zipped up. This will make sure that the erected tent is taught and sturdy.
Also, you do need to use tent pegs that are suitable for the ground. So if you are intending to use in sandy or coastal areas you may need to invest in some sand pegs to make sure the tent can resist wind and rain. Other than that it is a great tent, very sturdy, well made and great quality.
The dimensions of the Black Wolf Turbo Lite Cabin 450 tent when it's packed in its bag are 130L x 50W x 40H cm.
