For families on the go, the 30 Second Oztent RV-4 Canvas Touring Tent maintains the same pack size as the RV3 yet boasts more internal space thanks to a pull out floor section. A multi-award-winning design, the RV-4 tent is a fast and durable shelter for small families, or couples seeking plenty of space for their 4WD adventures.
The patented internal aluminium frame enables one person to effortlessly assemble and disassemble the tent in less than 30 seconds. Twist and Lock telescopic poles are included to extend the awning which features a stiffener that makes rolling up the awning a one-person job. Side and rear windows feature super fine insect mesh as does the door, while the rear window can be guyed out to allow ventilation in all weather.
Made with nothing but quality components, the Oztent RV-4 Tent features 8oz ripstop canvas, heavy duty PVC flooring and guy ropes with built-in storage pockets.

My canopy roofrack is 1500mm - is it acceptable to have ~500mm overhang when transporting this tent?
G'day Geoff,
If it's a rear overhang of 500mm you should have no issues when transporting this. As long as the tent is properly secured this will be fine. There should be under 150mm of overhang on the sides of your vehicle as per the Australian requirements, anything over 1.2m of rear overhang will require a 300mm flag at the end of this, if under this you won't need a flag.
Can you tell me whether the Oztrail Easy Fold Single Stretcher fits in the RV4? I'm not sure given the back wall of the tent is angled whether it would fit at the height the bed sits. I have two and would place them one on either side of the door.
G'day Barry,
You lose about 45cm of space in an RV4 at the height of a stretcher, so unfortunately the easy fold single stretchers are a bit to tight to fit in either side of the door.
You can with the RV5, or fit the two stretchers into the RV4 perpendicular/across the door.
What would be the ultimate RV tent combination that can be zipped together for a a 2 adult 3 child family. We are thinking two RV-4s with wife and I in one and the 3 kids in the other. We would like an inflatable mattress of some sort for wife and I (queen ideally) and 3x single inflatable ones for the kids. Ideally arrangment will last us until the oldest is 10, she is currently 4.
G'day Dylan,
I think you're bang on the money with the RV-4. The RV3 will be a touch too small for the three single mattresses with the kids, although you can fit a double/queen mat in one running perpendicular to the door. The RV5 is that next bit bigger which is unnecessary unless you want more space in the tent itself for bags, etc, or if you're considering adding stretchers to the sleep systems at any stage.
Because they don't do the Tagalong range anymore, you'll need an Awning Connector to join the RV tents together - you can find them here.
Is the tent bag waterproof? Roof rack transport query
G'day Neil,
No, the RV range does not come with a waterproof bag. The most common & economical solution is to pick up a good quality tarp that you can wrap the tent in for roof rack transport.
Does this tent require curing?
G'day Brian,
For convenience, Oztent has already pre-prepared this tent for immediate use by seam sealing all the seams and tiny holes made by the needle - this means you don't need to 'Season' it prior to use!
What are the actual dimensions of this tent as the website says 213x38x28 yet in another question you say 200 x 35 x 15cm.? I need to make sure it fits my roof rack.
G'day Danika,
In the box the RV4 is 213L x 38W x 28H cm, without the box and just in the bag they are 200L x 35W x 15H cm.
How do you go about joining a series 1 foxwing to an RV4?
G'day Craig,
We've only been selling the Foxwing since series 2 was released so I can't give you an answer with complete accuracy, but I'll have a go! The RV5 is definitely compatible with the Series 2 awning, you'll just need an awning connector to connect the two. It is my understanding you can also connect an RV-4 however it will just be a little narrower than the width of the section you attach it to. I'd suggest giving Oztent a call to just clarify this though.
**Update 15/10/20 - Oztent has verified that yes you can connect a series 1 Foxwing to an RV4 using an awning connector.
Do you sell a queen/double stretcher with mattress (sim?) that will fit inside an rv4?
G'day Kelly,
I've just checked the Oztrail Easy Fold Queen Stretcher in the RV5 and there was a bit of room to spare so you should be fine to fit one in the RV4. You can pop a self-inflating mat on top of these stretchers for extra insulation and comfort.
Looking to purchase a good quality, quick setup tent for our Simpson Desert trip in August. I was sold on an RV4, until I saw it on display alongside a Speedy Earth Tent 6 (SET6) last weekend. Now I'm confused. With both of us being tall, the SET6 offered much more room inside to stand up in (the SET4 height is shorter). I didn't realise the slope of the RV roof until I saw it. The 190cm height is really only at the doorway. First world problems, I guess. The main sticking point I have now is deciding which tent canvas offers the best light-blocking & thermal protection/ventilation. On a bright moon-lit night, would the SET6 be dark enough on the inside to sleep, or would it be pretty bright inside too? Would the RV4 have the advantage here, especially if a fly were attached? Also, which tent would you recommend offers the best thermal quality on a hot summers day/night? Would one be noticeably hotter inside than the other? Does one offer better ventilation than the other? Looking forward to your guidance! Thanks!
G'day Cindy,
I'm sorry to say that I'm not sure I'll be totally helpful with this one having not spent nights in both with similar outside light or temperatures. I would suggest that the light blue canvas of the EPE Speedy 6 would reflect more light and feel a little lighter inside than the Oztent RV4 Canvas Touring Tent. The Oztent also has a thicker canvas, so I would suggest that it would hold temperatures inside it more. When it gets hot, it will probably be hard to get the heat out again but it will probably take a little longer to get hot.
I hope this gives you a little guidance.
Hi, I am 6.3 and wonder if I will be able to set this up.
G'day James,
Guessing that maybe you did a typo when popping in your height but if you are 6'3", then you'd have no issues whatsoever. If you're 5'3", then it might come down to how high you can reach. As long as your hand can reach 190cm from the ground (the highest point of the Oztent RV4 Canvas Touring Tent), then you'll be fine.
Hi Guys, I've read the questions about stretchers inside the Rv4, and mine may sound silly, however, for extra midgie protection can you tell me if the Oztent Bunker fits inside the Rv4 along the side?? Looking to sleep in the stretcher without the fly. Cheers Mark
G'day Mark,
There's no such thing as a silly question! Unfortunately, the Oztent Bunker doesn't fit in the Oztent RV4 Canvas Touring Tent without touching the sides.
Can you tell me whether the Oztrail Easy Fold Single Jumbo Stretcher fits in the RV4? I'm not sure given the back wall of the tent is angled whether it would fit at the height the bed sits. I have two and would place them one on either side of the door.
G'day Stacey,
I've just had a quick look at this for you and unfortunately, you won't be able to fit 2 of the Oztrail Easy Fold Single Jumbo Stretchers in the Oztent RV4 Canvas Touring Tent the slant is too great to fit them that way. You can fit one sideways in the tent but not two lengthways.
Does the RV4 awning connect to the Rhinorack sun seeker awning?
G'day Melanie,
Unfortunately, we don't stock Rhino-Rack so I'm unable to answer this question with confidence. Sorry.
Hey there Kevin, when packed up with the RV-4 inside the bag is 200 x 35 x 15cm.
