If your family needs a sturdy yet manageable shelter for touring, the Oxley 7 Lite from Oztent fits the bill.
This tent is made from 210D Polyoxford PU 2000mm, which is what makes it lighter than their Oxley Fast Frame siblings, and a lot easier to carry around. What’s so great about the Oxley 7 Lite is that it has an auto-lock/release frame, which makes setting up and packing away this shelter fast and easy. Just lay it out, pop the centre hub and lock it, pull the arms out to lock the frame into place, peg it out, and attach the fly.
Space can be a problem when camping with a family, which is why the Oxley 7 Lite comes with a pull-out extension for extra space. You’ll be protected from insects thanks to the No-See-Um mesh screens, and for airflow, the extra-large windows will provide ventilation. The fly provides 100% protection from water, reduces condensation in chilly conditions, and will keep your tent cooler when the weather heats up.
If you want to relax under cover outside your tent, the Oxley 7 Lite also has an extra-large awning for some additional living space. For an easy to set up and practical family touring tent, you can’t go past the Oxley Lite 7 tent from Oztent.

which one will last longer?
G'day Ted,
Unfortunately, unless you've already purchased one, then the Oxley 7 Lite is now unavailable. They were a clearance model, and have now sold out sorry. The Coleman Gold tents have a slightly higher waterhead rating on the fly fabric, but overall they're made from fairly similar materials, so should last a similar amount of time.
Does the awning have a zipper to connect to the foxwing 4x4 awning?
G'day James,
Great question! I've had a chat with Oztent who have confirmed that this tent is not compatible with the Foxwing. The RV range is compatible though!
Is there a room separator to separate the rooms? Or is it just one big room?
G'day Liam,
The Oxley 7 Lite has one large room, with a central divider that can be zipper opened or shut. The divider isn't stitched into the floor, so it doesn't create two completely separate sections, but it will provide privacy and a way to separate the spaces.
Thank you
G'day Joe,
Unfortunately not, this accessory was discontinued quite some time ago, and we're just clearing out the remaining stock of the discontinued tents.
Can you recommend peak awning and ridge poles suitable for th tent
G'day Ronnie,
We'd recommend the Oztent Alloy Poles 220cm version, in conjunction with the Alloy Telescopic Spreader.
How is this compare to Coleman 10P is terms of reliability? I see that the tent material is better than Coleman, but how about the floor? Does the Coleman has a better floor material/rating? Are there pre attached guy ropes in the frame?
G'day Ronaldo,
It's hard to give a direct comparison with the two tents, as they're quite different, but I'll do my best. The poles on the Oxley are aluminium, the Coleman have steel poles with plastic components, so it terms of poles, the Oxley is slightly better. The materials are fairly similar, however as you indicate the floor on the Coleman is a little more heavy-duty. Both of these tents come with pre-attached guy ropes. I'd personally be happy with either of these options, but would steer a little more towards the Oxley due to the better poles and the shape/design.
Will there be more of the complete panels for the okley?
G'day William,
Unfortunately not, the Complete Panel System is a discontinued line.
Is there clips so you can roll back the front awning or would there be an easy way to roll it back without it getting in the way?
G'day Michael,
Yes you can roll back the front awning, there are some velcro loops to secure it back once it's rolled up.
Does the back side(small) window not have a blind to pull down and cover ??
G'day Ste,
The side mesh window at the back has an internal blind that zips around to fully seal it off from any weather but this does leave the mesh exposed on the outside. As yet we haven't had any feedback - good or bad of the impact of this! The Fly does create a small eave, so may help to shield it from overhead rain.
These tents have sealed seams and are rated to be waterproof, but is condensation generally an issue in single skin tents? What about leaks if a bag or child is touching the side of the tent in wet weather? Are there other considerations such as ventilation to take into account when buying a single-skin tent? Thank you!
G'day Kimberly,
Generally, we find condensation is worst in single skin canvas tents over winter. The Oxley 7 Lite has a fly sheet so we'd suggest using the fly sheet to reduce the chance of condensation. Opening up the windows for a little ventilation will also help. We'd generally suggest that you give a little bit of clearance on the edges to reduce the chance of sleeping bags or little feet touching the edge and picking up any condensation that might form. Hopefully, that will help.
On oxley 7 lite can you close that roof vent if not fo you lose allot of heat on cold nights
G'day Kevin,
I've just called Oztent and they have confirmed that the roof vent isn't able to be closed, so this tent is probably best in summer, autumn and spring. It will still be fine to use in winter as this will provide handy ventilation.
I am attracted to the convenience of not needing the fly unless in heavy rain, but prefer the lightweight and smaller package elements of the lite. Thanks
G'day Torey,
I'm not entirely sure why they made the fly different on these two tents sorry, I can only assume the Lite model is trimmed back to keep the weight down. The Lite model can still be used in light rain without the fly, but the fly will help prevent condensation build up inside the tent and it will help stop heavy rain from getting in through zippers in the roof vents, so just make sure you always have it handy in case the sky opens right up.
Hi Torey, We have just got the Oxley 7Lite and yet to test it properly, but at this stage would be hesitant to use it in rain without a fly as the roof of the back section is just mesh. Hope this helps!
How does this compare with the Black Wolf Turbo Lite Plus 300 Tent? I'm looking for something with enough room for 2 adults and 2 kids and is durable, easy to assemble and pack away. The Turbo Lite Plus looks like it has more durable material and a stronger frame?
G'day Chris,
Great question, both the Oxley 7 Lite and Turbo Lite Plus 300 tents are quick and easy to set up and pack down. Both tents are a good option, with the Turbo giving you a larger sleeping space, which might be useful for the family. The small fly cap on the Oxley 7 Lite might make it a slightly quicker to set up, but as you've indicated the Turbo Lite Plus 300 is a little more solid and has more accessory options for the front awning space. In the photo the floor looks different however the description says it is made from the same material as the walls. If so, is the floor rated at 2000mm water proof?
G'day Mark,
The floor of the Oztent Oxley 7 Lite Touring Tent is the same material as the fly, just a different colour. This means that the floor also has a Waterhead rating of 2000mm.
