Manufacturing Quolity control

Hi. Your service was excellent, the delivery was just another of your great service back up you provide. Only problem was with the tent corner fly support on the base corner was attached upside down and created problems with attaching the fly. I will send photos when I set the tent up for cleaning. This is in no way your fault, it is a quality control issue with Coleman. All the best for the future. Stephen

Response from Snowys Feb 24 2016

G'day Stephen, Thanks for posting your feedback, but we're bummed that your having some issues with your fly. If you could send us a couple of photo's, that would be great. Once we've had a look, we can work out the best way to fix the issue. Talk to you soon!

very easy to set up

I have a large family tent but I bought this tent for me and my young son I found it very quick and easy to set up on my own. I have used it in heavy rain with no leaks when awning is down. Only downside is you can't leave the awning up in any rain or water will come in. But that's the case with most tents and for just over $200 this is a great tent.

Instant Up 4P Tent

We found it very easy to put up on a test run.... but haven't been camping as yet.

Kept us dry

After a comfortable night with only screens closed, was like sleeping under the stars. Then next night came torrential rain. Our whole campsite was washed out but we were completely dry inside the tent. Luckily its so easy to put up, as we needed to dry it out when we got home.

Great height and super easy to put up!

I bought this tent to go camping with my 5 yo and 3 yo who is developmentally delayed and cannot walk. I set it up in the back yard and was excited how quick it was to set up and take down. Also since I need to carry my 3yo it is a lovely height so I don't break my back going in and out with her. Recommend it!

Is it easy enough for 1 person to erect on their own1 answers

Hi yesterday when competing with my dogs at Agility trial my gazebo and sides were completely saturated and mud all over the sides. Gazebo was not withstanding the wind and as I am competing in the Agility National this week down at Wirrina was wondering if this would be suitable

- Woodcroft(5 months ago)
G'day Julie - Sounds like you and your pooch are pretty intrepid, so if anybody could set an Instant Up 4P themselves, it's you! We have plenty of customers that have reported being able to easy set this tent up solo. Two people is ideal, but you should be able to manage it. Good luck with the Nationals. Hope that helps. Cheers, Paul

How does the Fly attach please?1 answers

How does the Fly attach please, & how long does it take? Is this process included in the '2 minutes'? I haven't seen any demo videos that include this. Also, would this tent be waterproof in sudden torrential rain? Thanks Beth

- CAIRNS, QLD(6 months ago)
Hi Beth. The fly attaches with Velcro touch tabs around the poles and plastic hooks on the corners. It is easiest to throw the fly over the tent once the pole knuckles have been inverted and prior to extending the legs, then you don't have to reach so high to get the fly over. Realistically the set up time is 5-10 mins. 2 mins in achievable but you need to be pretty focused and everything should go smoothly. As for rain, you won't have any problems, if you need more than the 1500mm waterhead this tent is rated to then water in your tent is probably the least of your concerns.

vestibule size2 answers

Hi just wondering what the overall length was of the tent and vestibule so i can get a dropsheet to cover both, under tent and vestibule. Thanks

- Penrith(6 months ago)
The vestibule extends out approximately 70cm from the tent inner Matt, so the total footprint for the tent is 2.4 metres x 3.1 metres. You probably won't find a dropsheet at exactly these measurements, but pretty close. Consider how you will use the space outside the tent also, you may find it useful to have a wider or longer dropsheet to create a covered area extending to the front or side of your tent.

dropsheet1 answers

Hi i was just wondering if you need a dropsheet or can it be pitched on the grass, and also what would be the average delivery time to Penrith NSW

- Penrith(6 months ago)
Hi Matt, a dropsheet will offer increased protection for the floor of your tent against abrasive ground, punctures and cuts, and is much cheaper to replace than a tent with a damaged floor. That being said, if you are camping predominantly on soft grass then there is no need for a dropsheet, it's just cheap insurance. We've got standard tarps on our website that will do the job for under $20.00.

do guy ropes come with this tent1 answers

Hi was just wondering if guy ropes came with this tent and how it goes in cold weather and wind . thanks Matt

- PENRITH, NSW(7 months ago)
It does Matt, there are guy ropes on each corner and an extra two for the awning. I can't remember if any are included for the window flaps, we don't currently have a demo version that I can check for you sorry, my gut feeling says that they are included.

Height of the tent1 answers

What is the internal height? The specs give the base dimensions only.

- EDEN HILLS, SA(8 months ago)
Hi Phil, the 1.9 m dimension accounts for internal height. I am 6'1" an own one of these and am able to function comfortably in the tent.

HI guys, dont know much about tents am a novice.1 answers

looking at your coleman instant up 4p tent for travelling,we are an older couple and think this tent looks good for 2people, dont understand what is FLY and why do you need it? and how do you rate waterproof ? Cheers--Mike

- Craigmore(10 months ago)
Hi Mike, all valid questions for a novice, welcome to the world of camping - starry nights, sunsets and campfire cooking! The Instant Up 4P is a great option for a travelling couple, it pitches easily and offers a no-fuss set-up at your campsite. Make sure you consider it's packed size, at 112 cm in length it does require some vehicle space, or roof racks. The Fly is the sheet that goes over the top of the inner tent (you could call it a second skin). This does two things, firstly it keeps the rain out, secondly it allows condensation on cold nights to build up on the inside of the fly or in-between the inner and the fly rather than inside the tent. A waterproof rating is basically a measure of pressure the fabric can take from water before it seeps through. At 1500 mm this fly will be more than adequate for Australian conditions. I hope this answers your questions, don't hesitate to call us if you have any further questions - 1300 914 007.

Can you put this tent up by yourself?1 answers

I often go camping my myself as a female haven't the strenuous a male was wondering if I would be able to put this tent up on my own

- WODONGA, VIC(1 year ago)
Hi Bernadette, it's much easier with two, and windy conditions create their own challenges, but it isn't difficult for one person to pitch this tent. The most important thing to do when pitching it solo is to throw the fly over the top before you extend the legs to their full height. The weight is the only other limiting factor, if you are comfortable with lifting 12.7kg, then you shouldn't have problems.

Do all the internal windows have covers?1 answers

It says the rear one does but not the others, so does that mean in cold weather the side windows (under the fly) can't be sealed? [I'm looking for a new tent in which I will not freeze!]

- Melbourne(1 year ago)
All the windows have internal privacy screens Kelly. Our description is a little ambiguous, by referring to the rear we mean the rear or inside of each window. The privacy screens zip upwards, so you can leave them open a little at the top for ventilation. I hope this makes sense, call us on 1300 914 007 if you have any queries.

Is the fly separate from the tent or is it all in one?1 answers

- Aldgate(1 year ago)
Hi Tina, thanks for your query. The fly is put over the tent after the inner is pitched, and should be removed before packing away. The inner tent however is always attached to the frame.

Does it come with the poles for the front porch?1 answers

Sounds like the tent for me, if it doesn't come with the poles, do you sell them? Thanks Julia

- COOMA, NSW(1 year ago)
Hi Julia, these are great tents. I own one myself and have used it extensively for family camping and 4WD touring trips. Two awning poles are included, so the tent is ready to use right out of the bag.
- Snowys(1 year ago)

How does the waterproofing and ease of putting up / packing away compare with the instant traveller?1 answers

- COOMA, NSW(1 year ago)
Hi Julia. I own an Instant Up 4, and have pitched with the Instant Traveller in the store. The Instant Up 4 is free standing making it easier to erect than the Instant Traveller, far sturdier when pitched in full and it boasts better waterproof qualities. The Instant Traveller offers a little extra head height, is lighter, slightly smaller when packed and comes at a lesser price. My pick of the two (if I didn't already own one) is the Instant Up 4.

Can I check that this is the full fly version (as per the picture) and not the old model?1 answers

I want to make sure that this is version 2 as I have used the old model with the half fly and I have found that the rain blows or drips in through the lower seam.

- Melbourne(1 year ago)
Hi Susan, thanks for your query, all our Coleman Instant Up tents are current models with full fly.
