Joolca GottaGo Modular Separating Toilet with Eco Cassette

This type of toilet can be used either as a chemical toilet (3 L of water 100 mL of chemical), or as a composting toilet with a different type of cassette ('eco-cassette'), using peat moss or sawdust (or coconut coir pete, as you suggested) directly inside it, or a third way, by using the eco-cassette with a biodegradable toilet bag in it, which you can then tie up easily and dump at an approved solid waste dump point.

The chemical toilet cassette has an 11L capacity, while the composting cassette has a 9.4L cassette (space leftover after sawdust etc is added). For a family of 4 Joolca estimates that will give you about 6 days between dump points. If you need to go longer I would recommend having a spare cassette to swap over to.

The seals in these toilets are hermetic, so odour shouldn't really be an issue, especially with the chemical cassette, but if you are concerned you can add some baking soda and essential oils to the composting cassestte to minimise the smell.

As all toilet papers should be biodegradable, you should just be able to use the same paper as you do at home. If you want to double check whether it will be suitable, you can grab a glass jam jar and 3/4 fill with water, then add a couple of squares of paper, pop on the lid, and shake for 5 seconds. If the paper breaks up into mushy little bits, it will be fine for the toilet. That said, one or two ply bamboo paper will break down the quickest.

There's no dedicated bag from Joolca on this one, you can use any type of biodegradable toilet bag.
The one kind we sell can be found here, along with information about quantity, pack size and cost.
Essentially the waste capacity is limited by the size of the eco cassette.
