Hi, your description on the Coolum shelter canopy says it is lined with a silver-coating, but the pictures & other videos online only show the silver lining on the side wall. Am I wrong? I am looking for a dome shelter that repels more heat from the sun than the (very hot) event 14 deluxe.
G'day Gen,
Yes, this shelter has a silver coating on the underside of the canopy. The pictures show a different colour to the wall as the wall and roof are made of different colour materials.
Unfortunately, the Coolum does not come with heat repelling technology, and I'm not 100% sure of any in our range of this style that does.
The Coleman Heat Shield gazebo does market a 10% reduction in heat.
What is the setup time, and how does it compare to the setup time of the Coleman Event14? As far as durability and wind rating, is it comparable to the Event14?
G'day Greg,
They'll be a much of a muchness between the 2 shelters.
Their construction and setup time are on par, and the overall design is similar, so you'll expect the same performance in wind.
The main difference is the Coolum having a 2000mm waterhead rating, where the Event series is 450mm...so you'll get much better performance in rain out of the Outdoor Connection shelter.
Can you buy flooring for this? Thanks
G'day Trent,
Unfortunately not, there isn't a flooring option for this shelter. You could use two Oztrail Ultramesh tarps in the 2.4m x 4.88m size and overlap them a little, they won't be an exact fit, but they would provide something under your feet in the shelter.
What details?
G'day Steven,
Both the Coolum 430 and the Coleman Event 12 are good options for camping. The Coolum shelter has a 2000mm waterproof rating, so should keep you dry in light rain, whereas the Event 14 is purely a sun shelter. The walls for the Coolum shelter zip into the shelter canopy. Overall the Coolum shelter is a lot lighter, and has fibreglass poles, and the Coleman is heavier and has steel pole.
I can't find any on your site.
G'day Doug,
The Coolum Shelter 430 walls are not yet available for purchase from Outdoor Connection, however, once they are available we'll list them online.
Can the shade material withstand Australian UV and being outdoors for extended periods of time in Adelaide Weather which has plus 40C weather?
G'day Stuart,
The Coolum Shelter 430 has been designed for Australian Conditions, so it can withstand hot weather and UV, however not for extended periods of time. This is a temporary shelter designed to be used for short periods of time - e.g. a weekend-weeklong camping trip, or a day picnic. The shelter is not designed to be used as a permanent fixture or left up for extended periods of time.
Does this product provide a UPF rating?
G'day Matt,
I've phoned Outdoor Connection and they have confirmed this material has been tested by ARPANSA and has a UV50 rating
