A luxurious and extravagant mat for couples, the Sea to Summit self-inflating Comfort Deluxe SI Double Sleeping Mat is the sort of camp mat that promotes a good night sleep, and a long sleep in the following morning no matter where you set up camp.
With 10cm of highly compressible cored PU foam there's tons of insulated comfort, and when it comes to packing up, the mat compresses down to a very manageable size that will easily fit into the boot of even the smallest car... room for a few other luxuries.
Finished off with a soft stretchy top fabric for next to skin comfort, the Double Comfort Deluxe Mat SI Camp Mat from Sea to Summit is a compact luxury that fits seamlessly into any camp setup.
does this mat need to be store open and inflated while not in use
G'day Rhiannon,
If you have somewhere to store it that way that would be great, but it absolutely doesn't need to be.
If you are going to have it stored away for months at a time, it's just recommended to get it out and occasionally inflate it to keep the foam healthy.
What is the time frame for inflation and deflation? Is there a range of pumps that offer different times?
G'day John,
This mat will generally reach full inflation height on their own within 30-60 minutes if you store it unrolled at home. If you store it rolled up at home then it will likely take a few hours to reach full height, unless you get it out before you head away and allow it to re-inflate before rolling again to head away. In terms of deflation once you open the deflation valve you can expel all of the air and get it rolled up within less than 5 minutes. These mats can be pumped up with a variety of manual or electric/rechargeable pumps within a few minutes, depending on which option you go for.
Does the mat come with its own bag to fit into?
G'day Mei,
Yes, I can confirm the mattress comes with its own polyester bag with a drawstring.
Is there any major difference in comfort between this mattress and the Exped Megamat?
G'day Beau,
Great question, the Sea to Summit Comfort DLX SI Sleeping Mat Double and the Exped Megamat 10 Duo are very similar. They are essentially the same size in use and packed up, and have a similar feeling soft fabric on the top. One main difference is the type of foam insulation, the Sea to Summit mat has Delta Core™ PU Foam which leads to slightly faster inflation, and a lower R-value (it may not be warm enough in snow type conditions). The Exped has a very high R-value and will, therefore, suit all conditions, but may take a little longer to inflate, and could require a little bit of extra inflation from the mini pump that's included. Overall, both are excellent mats, and there is a hot debate in the office about which one is better, it generally comes down to personal preference!
I had both STS and Exped. Very similar but Exped needs more time to fully inflated. But electric pump makes life easier.
Hi. I am chasing a double mattress for my Oztrail Mitchell double swag. I prefer to sleep on my side and find that I wake up with very sore hips on the original swag mattress. So Exped, Blackwolf or Sea to Summit ?? I do like the idea of straight sides to maximise sleeping area.. Looks like spending either $350 or $500.
G'day Richard,
Comfort can be a very tricky one to answer as different people look for different things. I would suggest the best bet would be to give our customer service team a buzz on 1300 914 007 and they'll be able to talk it through with you.
Hi, I was wondering if you can advise how long STS expect the lifetime of this product to be for an occasional (4 trips a year) camper. Comparing this mat to the Exped Megamat Duo, which has an explicit 5 year warranty, and wondering which one to go for. Are they of similar quality and comfort? Thanks!
G'day Justin,
"How long is a lifetime?" is a pretty common question we get & to put it vaguely, it basically covers the life of the product. If at any time during its life, you see any manufacturing defects, then it's covered under warranty. If the damage is general "wear and tear" though, then it's not covered. Most things will get to the point when the wear and tear will make the product unusable. As for whether or not to go for the Sea to Summit Comfort DLX SI Sleeping Mat Double or to go for the Exped, it really comes down to personal preference. They both have redeeming features over the other.
Any further details on this mat, maybe some pics?
G'day Troy,
The bag included with the Sea to Summit Comfort DLX SI Sleeping Mat Double is a basic polyester bag with drawstring. The dimensions are listed above in the specifications, but to confirm - that mat is 201L x 132W cm and is 10cm thick. This mat is a new product and so far this is the only image we've been provided from Sea to Summit, however, we're working on sourcing more in the very near future for our website.
What are the packed dimensions? Does it come with a bag?
G'day Sang,
We can't seem to find those specs online, and as we don't have any stock right now we can't measure this ourselves for you.
I've given Sea to Summit a call about your inquiry, so hopefully they will get back to me ASAP about the packed dimensions of the Comfort DLX SI Double.
Hi Sang,
We haven't been able to get our mitts on that info for you, generally, we independently measure all our products for packed size, and so as we don't have stock we haven't got that spec up yet.
If we had to take a guess, it would likely be a similar height and width to the single size, so about 18cm in diameter and 132cm long.
It does come with a bag, but it doesn't have a carry handle Sang.
