Can the batteries be replaced/serviced when the original batteries lose performance?
G'day Andrew,
Not at this stage, Biolite products are generally a sealed unit and don't have the option of a replacing the battery.
They have been designed for longevity though, so despite this it's not expected you would run into trouble with the battery.
If you do have any issues, even outside of the warranty period, BioLite will work to find a solution for you.
I've seen a video with the cooking tray slid to the side and a small camp oven placed in the wood box so that it sits upon the coals. What size camp oven would fit neatly doing this?
G'day Ross,
I've measured our display model and its quite a narrow space, measuring 17W x 44L. Our smallest 2qt camp oven is too big to fit the space - so it would need to be an extra small camp oven!
eg Is it LiFePo4, LiPO4, NiMH, NiCD, etc etc
G'day Peter,
We've heard back from the Australian distributor and they are a lithium-ion battery.
Does the pit radiate heat out of the sides please?
Yes it does, Michael, in much the same manner as a regular fire does. The sides are a mesh which allows some heat to radiate outwards, but keep in mind that most heat will be above as this is where heat naturally wants to escape to. The size of fire and type of wood will all have an impact on the amount of radiant heat you get out the sides of the firepit too.
We've used the Firepit a number of times and find the heat radiating out from the sides to be negligible. Sure, the fire looks amazing, but if you're looking for something to keep you warm, I'm not so sure this is it.
I.e. What kind of surface should it stand on?
G'day Helen,
It does get a little warm under the Fire Pit, so there are some considerations to take. The user manual states that it should be placed on level non-combustible ground (i.e. stone, gravel, concrete). If you did want to use it on a verandah / lawn area then the suggestion is that you should use the BioLite Fire Mat too.
Hi there, is there spit/rotissery accessory available this? Great looking fire pit that could be really good to cook a spit roast with.
G'day Justin,
I've just double checked and there is no spit/rotisserie accessory available for the BioLiute Fire Pit.
Being that this is smokeless, do you think that it could be used on a verandah with a roof?
G'day Rachelle,
The Biolite FirePit is smokeless but it will still produce carbon monoxide, so you can use it under a verandah but there will need to be ventilation, so just make sure the verandah isn't fully enclosed.
Does the fan generate much noise ?
G'day Tracy,
What a great question, to be honest, we've never actually had one of these set up to know how loud the fan is. However we've touched base with the team at Sea to Summit who bring them into Australia and they've indicated they're pretty quiet, and you wouldn't notice the noise above a conversation by the fire.

G'day Dick,
I've just checked with the Bendale store and they have a few of these in stock. You can place an order for In-Store Pickup via the website and just pop the word BRENDALE after your name and we'll get it amended on our end for you.
I have seen details of a bag with a solar panel for charging the fan as an additional product. I was wondering if the standard product came with a standard bag?
G'day Brett,
I've double checked this with our supplier as we're currently out of stock and the firepit doesn't come with a carry bag as standard. The solar charger carry bag was originally a Kickstarter reward but I believe it will be available to purchase separately at some point. It's not on the Aussie pricelist just yet and I don't have an ETA to give you sorry.
