Overland Track Tasmania

I used this for the Overland Track in Tasmania and it just fitted in all my ultralight gear + 6 days of food. Total pack weight about 14kg which was reaching its load limit. No problems with the bag on the track.

Great for everyday use

I use this bag daily travelling to and from work. It is large enough to carry a change of clothes including boots. The top storage compartment allows for easy access. The entire pack is made from good quality material. Highly recommended

Great size and design

Perfect sized pack for 3-4 day hiking trips. Great design, very comfortable. Snowys delivery was super fast!

Good capacity and pockets

I used the pack for a short 2 km walk in, camp, 2 km walk out. While I need a longer hike to be sure of the fit, there was certainly enough capacity for my tent, mat, sleeping bag, food and clothes. I agree the hip belt pockets are too small for the uses I had in mind - my phone, for example, won't fit there but overall I am happy with the useful pockets and capacity. Rain cover was fine for a rainy 2 kms.

Well designed and comfortable

Pack fits well on me (178cm/73kg). Any longer torso and the load lifter straps might not work as well. Very comfortable on 25-30km per day multiday hike. Waist strap pockets could be larger to hold phone or GPS unit. Side and rear pockets have stretch material. The rear pocket is great for easy access to food/map etc.

Good for an overnight hike

Was comfortable for a 20k round trip overnight hike. Properly adjusted it is very comfortable.
Just fit our gear: compact 2P tent, Denali Lite 100 bag, STS Comfort Plus mat, food, mess kit, 5L water bladder, extra clothing layers. Tight fit, but the smaller size bag forces you to pack light.
Plenty of compartments to keep your gear organised.
Only downside for me was the way the chest strap attaches to the plastic piping. I must have tightened mine too much and one side detached and was hard to re-attach.
I will be using this pack for many more overnight hikes.

Well Worth considering

I used this pack for 345klms of the Bibbulmun track in WA. Carried 5 days food, tent, sleeping, cooker and clothes etc. This was probably its limit, but I had no problems with it at all. So can recommend it fully for any overnighter or week on the track.

Bang for buck

Lightweight bag. The frame is easily removed (I didn't like the weight displacement of the frame, personally).
Have recently used this bag on a 3 night trip (16kg total starting weight) with no problems at all. It has all the functionality it needs. The bag compresses well and is easily adjusted for comfort. When exposed to moderate rain for 2+ hours, the waterproof cover does eventually soak through a little bit, as expected (just at the top, where gravity is doing its work).

Exactly as described

Great pack for short 2 day hikes etc. Just completed Six Foot Track with 1 overnight. With sleeping bag(not compact), 2 man tent, stove, 4ltrs of water, food and set of dry clothes tipped scales at 22kg probably stretched the limit but all fitted ok and very comfortable on the back for the whole trip with the Air Light harness. Loved the side access too.

Will this fit as a cabin baggage?1 answer

hi there, can the height compressed to fit the cabin baggage dimension restrictions?

- Sydney(1 month ago)

G'day HP,

I've been and had a look at a Black Wolf B-Lite 55 just to confirm my thoughts, and as I suspected it has a frame that's going to prevent you from compressing the height of the bag at all sorry. You might be able to sneak it through on some airlines, but they're all getting stricter on these things so I'm not sure I'd risk it.

Fit2 answers

Hi, I am 167cm I height and wondering if this would be a fit

- Blacktown (8 months ago)

G'day Raymond,

On the surface, it does sound like the Black Wolf B-Lite 55L Backpack might be good for you but the length of your back is the most important part and we can't always get that accurate when just looking at your height. If you'd be able to measure your back for us and give us a call on 1300 914 007, then our customer service team will be able to give you a hand with getting the absolute best bag for your needs.

- Snowys(8 months ago)

G'day Raymond,

I've just measured from the top of the shoulder strap to the waistband and I reckon that the Black Wolf B-Lite 55L Backpack would be a winner for you!

Carry on1 answer

Does this bag classify okay for carry on for flying?

- Newport(8 months ago)

G'day Sean,

The Black Wolf B-Lite 55L Backpack would be too large for carry on with most airlines. The safest bet for a carry on bag would be to limit yourself to nothing bigger than a 40L bag.

What size torso would this pack suit?2 answers

- I am 6 foot - Torso is around 20-21inch Thanks

- Campbelltown (11 months ago)

G'day Brett,

Just waiting for more stock to arrive so that I can measure this up for you. Thanks for your patience.

- Snowys(11 months ago)

Hi Brett,

I've measured this up for you, from the top of the shoulder strap, with it rounded as it would over a shoulder, to the centre of the hip belt, the measurement is 45-47 cm. I too am 6 foot, or just a little over, and this fits comfortably on my back with the hip belt situated in the current location to carry load on my waist.

I hope this helps with your decision.

Is the shoulder strap adjustment for different torso height? 1 answer

Is the shoulder strap adjustment for different torso height?

- Sydney(1 year ago)

G'day Jen,

The shoulder straps on the Black Wolf B-Lite 55L can be adjusted but you can't adjust the length of the torso of the pack. If you're after something similar with an adjustable length harness have a look at the Deuter ACT Lite 50 10 or ACT Lite SL 45 10, depending on your height and build.

Secure straps etc so they don't get damaged during transit. Is there a light weight bag or cover we can buy to store them in while on the plane?1 answer

See above

- BUGALDIE(1 year ago)

G'day Anne,

The best option we have available is the Black Wolf Overall available here which is designed specifically for what you're after. It's a bit bigger than the 55L of the Black Wolf B-Lite Backpack but would ensure that your bag straps are all contained and offer minimal protection against the bag being damaged in transit.

Could you please advise maximum weight this backpack can hold1 answer

Could you please advise maximum weight this backpack can hold

- Roleystone (1 year ago)

Hi Valerie,

Black Wolf doesn't list maximum weight capacities for their packs but given the design and materials, it can handle overnight gear no worries.

What colour is the built-in raincover?1 answer

I've seen the Black Wolf Tempo raincover is a highly reflective silver/grey - is this the same? Thank you

- Adelaide(3 years ago)
I'm not sure when the change occurred Stuart, but the raincovers in the B-Lite packs are all a bright orange now, and the Tempo is the same. All the Black Wolf rain-covers were the silver you refer to, I suspect the change occurred a few months ago when new colourways were introduced to the Black Wolf Range.
