Freestanding?1 answer
Is the Wasp freestanding or do the corners have to be pegged out first? Also, can you suggest a suitable footprint? Thx
Fran - Vincentia, NSW(4 years ago)
G'day Fran,
Yes, the Black Wolf Wasp is a freestanding tent option. In terms of a footprint, there's not one made specifically for this tent, so it's just a matter of working out what size area you'll want covered, and colour etc. You can find our range of footprints HERE, most on the 2P size ones will work, but if you want more length to cover vestibule areas you could opt for a large 3P version.

Overland Track in Spring1 answer
Could you use this tent on the Overland track in Spring, we plan to sleep in huts but as you may know you are required to carry a tent in case of emergency or overcrowding. Last time we did walk in September we did have snow for first 3 days.
Crystal - Thornlands QLD(4 years ago)
G'day Crystal,
Theoretically yes, the Wasp UL 2 is a 3 season tent, so should suit most conditions other than active snowfall. Generally, we'd recommend being prepared for anything in Tassie, especially as you say, there is sometimes snowfall in the shoulder seasons. If you did have active overnight snowfall the tent should be ok, but you'd likely need to clear snow off the tent roof at regular intervals overnight to reduce strain on the tent poles and fabric.

overland track1 answer
looking to purchase a tent for the overland track in summer. would this tent handle? how does this tent compare to the marmont fortress. cheers
sam - townsend(5 years ago)
G'day Sam,
Both the Wasp UL 2 and the Fortress 2P will suit a summertime overland track walk. The two tents are quite similar, with the Fortress having a slightly better set up for cooler weather, with dual-layer side doors. Overall they'll perform fairly similarly with the Wasp giving a little more total head height.
