If you can’t wait to get out there and explore your favourite hiking spots when the weather warms up, then you’re going to need a breathable and lightweight tent to keep you sheltered at night. The Vertex 2P from Oztrail is ideal for warm or tropical conditions, as the breathable inner will allow air to flow through the tent and keep your space feeling fresh. If you’re a solo traveller that likes the extra space, this model will give you plenty of room, otherwise this cosy tent will be just enough for two.

Sometimes it can be a little crowded if you’ve got your gear in your tent with you, but with the Vertex 2, you can easily store your gear in the vestibules on either side of the tent. The cross pole frame creates additional head height and will help keep everything sturdy in a gust of wind. If the weather turns, the seams of the fly are heat taped and have a high waterhead rating – so you’ll stay nice and dry inside your shelter.

The last thing you want to do it misplace your phone or GPS when you’re hiking in the middle of nowhere – so keep your valuables out of the way using the detachable gear loft. The Vertex is a simple and easy to use tent that’ll be great shelter to bring out when the weather warms up.

Footprint? 1 answer

Is there a footprint available for this? Or are you able I tell me if the Marmot Limelight will fit okay?

- Launceston(3 months ago)

G'day Dwayne,

Unfortunately, Oztrail doesn't make groundsheets for their hiking tents.

The Marmot Limelight isn't a perfect fit, but this doesn't mean it can't be used either.

Tent Toss-up1 answer

How to pick between this, the EPE Spartan 2, the Oztrail Razorback or the Blackwolf grasshopper? Expected usage is year round, mostly south coast NSW 2-3 night pack hikes. Stat sheets only tell so much, whats the feeling of these in person?

- Illawarra, NSW(1 year ago)

G'day Nathan,

We’ve had the Grasshopper in our range for a while, and we find it to be a reliable, well-made tent that proves to be a popular choice for our customers.

The Vertex and Razorback newer to us but from seeing and feeling the Razorback and Vertex in person – they do feel a step down in quality compared to the Grasshopper.

We’ve had the Spartan for the least amount of time in our range, but we don’t have one on display. In general we find EPE to be a reliable brand in terms of quality though.

It sounds like long-term durability and quality are your main criteria, so if that’s the case I would say that the Grasshopper is going to be the best choice out of those four option.

Picking a tent can sometimes be a tricky task, so if you’re having trouble deciding – give us a buzz on 1300 914 007 and we’d be happy to talk you through the range.
