Front/Rear doors1 answer
Hey guys, Pondering one of these tents, but wondering about the front/rear doors on the tent itself. On the Blackwolf video, it looks like the tent doors are mesh. Is this the case? Just trying to figure out if wind is going to get under the vestibule and come into the main tent compartment in cooler weather.

All the Tuff Dome tents have both a mesh door and a solid privacy door to either allow better flow-through ventilation in warmer weather or to keep those draughts out in winter.

Size of vestibule?1 answer
We have the tuff dome twin and love this tent for our family of four. The front vestibule on the twin is quite roomy and great for storing stuff, and you can stand inside it. Just wondering whether the vestibule on this smaller version is as roomy?

The vestibule of the Black Wolf Tuff Dome Tent extends about 180cm from the front of the entrance to the tent itself, so it's quite a large area.

Does it have a front panel and how does it work?2 answers
My old Tuff Dome has a panel at the front (and back) that zips right down to provide full protection from weather and forming an enclosed vestibule. I can't see it on this picture. Mine rolls up and is held with toggles. The grey panel at the front looks like you would need to bend over to get under it - or does it unzip right up?

G'day Dallas. The door on the front vesitbule will zip right down to enclose that area - if you click on the picture to magnify it you can just see where the door is rolled up. I'm fairly certain that the grey panel is fixed, but unfortunately we don't have one on display right now for me to check. Leave it with me - I'll try and get confirmation from Black Wolf on Monday, otherwise we'll clear a space and put one up here in the shop to confirm.Â

Hi Dallas,
I have one of these tents (the double), so can confirm that the vestibule can be completely enclosed, both front and back, you just can's see the rolled up door very well in the image.Â
As for the grey panel, I'm not quite sure why this is shown as such, I generally roll mine all the way to the top and I don't recall any toggles at the level shown in the picture to secure the rolled up doorway.

Hi there, I am looking at this tent as a potential for a school camp tent fleet. Students can be pretty unforgiving with equipment such as this. I am wondering what the durability of the zips is like (what type and size are they?), and also if spare parts such as poles, or pole sections are easily and readily available? Out of all our 4 person dome tents, the Tuff Dome from Black Wolf is probably the strongest model that we have in terms of the overall construction.
I’ve just checked for you, and we definitely have access to spare parts from our supplier, and the pole sections can also be fixed fairly easily in the event of breakage.Â
I have had a look into the zips, and information about the size and type are not given by the supplier as far as I can find. From looking at it in store though I’d say that the size is between a finer high end hiking tent zip and a no. 10 heavy duty size you’d get on a swag.
We’ve got staff who have had this tent for many years and find the zips to still be going strong, so I'd say overall the Tuff Dome is a good option for school camp as it is very reliable.

Pitching question4 answers
Hi. I have this tent and want to be able to pitch it when I'm camping alone. How can I stabilize a pole into the eyelet in the woven ground strap so it won't come out as I walk to the other side of the tent? Cheers!

Hi Marc, I don't have a magic solution for you sorry. The only way I get around this is to keep pressure on the pole when I pick up the opposite side to ensure it does not come out of the grommet. Alternatives I can think of are to use rubber bands to hold the pole and tab in place, or some sort of clip on the underside to prevent the pole from pulling out. That's about all I have for you sorry, I will be interested to see if anyone else has ideas.

Thanks, Ben. If the pole point comes through the eyelet far enough, vice grip pliers to hold it as the "clip" you suggest is a great idea. Otherwise, maybe, instead of rubber bands, a short length of strong nylon cord. Thanks again.

I am a woman 170cm tall and I have put this tent up by myself on several occasions. Just keep pressure on and it stays in. The only trouble I've had is hoisting the fly over the top and I usually commandeer help from neighbouring campers.
