Locking mechanism1 answer
on extending these polls do they lock by twisting?? And is it better to have a clamp type lock??
Mark - Mornington, VIC (2 years ago)
G'day Mark,
Yes, these poles have twist-lock adjustment using Leki's Super Lock System. This has a locking force of 140kg, so will more than do the trick. There are advantages & disadvantages to both twist and clamp locks. Twist locks can provide a challenge for people with dexterity issues, and also in cold climates where you may have to wear gloves. Clamps can add weight and bulk, and can get released if the latch catches on something. As clamp locks are more modern they are possibly perceived to be better, but I don't necessarily think that's true. Ultimately it comes down to personal preference.
