The Sundome 2 has a floor level vent and some large roof vents, so I think you should be ok for ventilation in far north Queensland.

Unfortunately, a waterhead rating and wind rating is not supplied from Coleman for the Sundome 2 Person Dome Tent. The advice I can offer is that you very much get what you pay for with this tent and I wouldn't expect it to hold up well in heavy rain or wind.

The Sundome has a partial fly, so the coverage in the rain will be less than a traditional full fly. It will offer some protection against leaks as it's got a welded floor and inverted seams - but it will have limitations in certain weather conditions at is doesn't have a waterhead rating. 

I can't find any info from Coleman about insect protection but we do know that there is mesh on this tent. If you're after a budget friendly tent then you might want to consider the Oztrail Skygazer - this has no-see-um mesh for insect protection and a waterhead rating of 2000mm. 

Anther option would be the Companion Pro Hiker, again it's a little dearer but it is a fantastic tent that offers good weather protection for the price.
