Windows on each side can be rolled open on warm nights, or zipped closed in adverse weather leaving two lower vents that still enable adequate ventilation. Easy as!

I'm not an experienced camper but this was a cinch to erect and pull down - even though I'm only 5'2" and it was windy. Yay me! Oh ok, it was the tent.... I use it at horse events and I was worried that the spring open action might send some of the nearby horses into orbit but I was pleased to find I could get the tent out and up in a controlled manner and nobody was harmed 😀 Great tent.

Great pop up tent.

Very happy with this little tent. Practised setting it up before leaving home, no problems with setting up or packing up. We bought a black wolf deluxe camping mat and the combo works well. Haven't tried it in the rain. The weight and ease of set up make this a winner. Happy with our decision, this was instead of a roof top tent.

Genius

This little tent is everything you could wish for. Folding it up takes a bit of practice and could be difficult if you are short. Delivery was very prompt and the price is right.

Canvas is best

This is my second popup tent. Love the canvas option. Rained a lot first use and kept us fairly dry. Did leek through the stitching in the buckle used to hold the side flaps up, even after seasoning tent before use. Floor is very light construction compared to the rest. Must use a ground sheet. Take some seam sealer with you and this ten t should perform well over time.

Easy setup

Arrived late at campsite late at night. Started raining so head torch on, mesh down then up goes the tent...... just like that. Pelted for the rest of the night/early morning but we stayed dry and cosy. Love the sound of rain hitting the canvas, it's like when you're in a tin roofed house.... same same but different. Got up the next day and the tent was covered in debris from surrounding trees, hmmm must have gotten windy. Buy it and you will love it.

Great Choice

I've only used this tent once so far, but it was a cold wet weekend, and it did everything I wanted it to. Very pleased. Looking forward to camping more with this thing.

Speedy Sahara pop up tent

Would be a great tent if I was the one who designed it. All good except for the fact rain comes through at the bottom of each window because the designers didn't make the window flaps come down enough. It's not rocket science. Now I have to get it modified. I would pay an extra $50 if they would just perfect the design. Come on people, get it together.

Response from Snowys Aug 16 2016

Sorry this doesn't live up to your expectations Damian. There's a bit of a trade off here, when a manufacturer seals a tent completely users have issues with condensation, so they mitigate this by adding vents for airflow but this creates potential for water ingress, particularly if the wind is blowing the wrong way! Might be something to keep in mind if you invest in any modifications. ~ Ben

Greate service, tent not fully taped seams

Best price by far at Snowys and service was excellent.
However, the feature "Fully Taped seam" on the Explore Planet earth website is not correct as every zip seam is not taped. This may be why some people have experienced the tent leaking in down pours. I will seam seal the zip seams and the tent should be water proof. Other wise a good tent for what it is.

groundsheet2 answers

Do you sell anything that would be suitable as a groundsheet for this tent? Being oval, I am not sure what to use

- Melbourne(6 months ago)

G'day Mel,

We'd recommend the Oztrail Ultramesh Tarp in the 2.44m x 2.44m size. Unfortunately, there is nothing available in an oval shape, but this tarp should do the trick as it will offer good protection for your tent while also allowing any moisture and fine dirt to fall through. There will just be some excess around the corners which you can either peg through or tuck underneath.

Excellent! I have already purchased one of those off you guys. Thanks Ben :)

Will my sleeping mats fit in this tent?1 answer

G'day. I have two Thermarest self inflating mats: each of them measure 203 cm (L) x 76 cm (W) x 10 cm (H) for a combined sleeping surface of 203 cm (L) x 152 cm (W) x 10 cm (H). I understand that two Exped Megamat 10 LXWs (similar dimensions) fit in this tent however, the Thermarests are slightly longer. Judging by the floor plan measurements that you have supplied, my mats SHOULD fit nicely side by side however, I was hoping that you may be able to provide me with some confirmation while considering the curvature of this tent's inner walls and floor. ie. Would this particular tent be compatible with my mat set or, would I require the larger EPE Speedy 4? Thank you

- PERTH, WA(8 months ago)

G'day Andrew,

Technically they would fit with some room left however as you say, with the curved edges of this particular tent there is a chance that it would be tight. The inside dimensions are very generous and there would be an additional 17cm of length and around half metre of width so I think that it should fit OK.

Poly/Cotton Fly Density?1 answer

G'day. I was just wondering what grade of poly cotton is used in the fly material? i.e. What is the density measurement? Cheers

- PERTH, WA(9 months ago)

G'day Andrew,

I've just had a chat with the supplier, and they've said that the inner and fly of the Speedy Sahara Pop Up Tent is made of the same material, which is 40 denier Rip-Stop Polyester.

Waterproofing 1 answer

Hi I just purchased this tent while in store I asked what the advantages of the two types of tent material I ended up going with this one for durability but in the process of watching youtube on how to fold ......got there in the end i noticed that this tent has a lower waterproofing rate nos im second guessing my choice thoughts. Wasnt told this difference at time of purchase. Also I ve noticed it recommends the use of a ground sheet is there a danger of water pooling under the tent.

- FLAGSTAFF HILL, SA(1 year ago)

Hi Bernice, while the polycotton and polyester pop up tents have different waterhead ratings both styles of tents are waterproof. If you compare this model to our high-end hiking tents, many will have the same waterhead rating as the Sahara. In general we always recommend using a tarp with every tent to protect the floor from abrasive ground. You won’t get any water pooling underneath the Sahara unless you incorrectly set it up on very uneven ground during a heavy downpour. If you have any other doubts or follow up questions about your purchase, we’d love to chat to you about it - just give us a call on 1300 914 007 and one of our sales staff can talk you through your options.

Extra Poles and Guy Ropes1 answer

Is it possible to purchase an extra two poles and guy ropes for the second awning please?

- CAIRNS, QLD(1 year ago)
G'day Richard - Sure is. As you're probably aware this tent comes with the two awning poles. Something like the Darche Swag Awning Alloy Pole Set (#46322) would work well as a secondary set. Hope that helps. Cheers, Paul

what are the advantages and disadvantages with the Sahara ?1 answer

hi, will the Sahara hold up in wet weather as good as the normal speedy tent? what are the advantages and disadvantages with the Sahara ? than you

- VIC(1 year ago)
Hi Jason, the main advantage of the Speedy Sahara lies in its durability. The polycotton material will withstand use on rough ground better than the nylon on other Speedy tents, this also makes it heavier. If you were to use it for touring, the Sahara would be a better option. That being said it is not quite as waterproof, but you wold have to be in some serious rain events to notice the difference.
- Snowys(1 year ago)

Hi, are there awnings on both the front and back, or just the front?1 answer

- LISMORE, NSW(2 years ago)
There are awnings on both the front and rear of the Speedy Sahara Kim, two awning poles are included.
- Snowys(2 years ago)

Hi , is the speedy Sahara available in a two man ? 1 answer

I could not find a two man on the web site. Thanks Jason.

- TOWNSVILLE CITY, QLD(2 years ago)
There is only one size available in the Speedy Sahara sorry Jason. However, it is quite a tight 3 person tent, so it would be quite suitable for two people.

Whats the difference between this one and the Speedy 4?1 answer

Just wondering what features this has compared to the original Speedy 4?

- GOOLWA, SA(3 years ago)
Hi Michael, apart form variances in dimensions as well as the front and rear awnings on the Sahara, the key differences between the Speedy Tent and the Speedy Sahara Tent is the fabric. The Sahara is made of Ripstop PU Polycotton (lightweight canvas) rather than a 190T polyester (synthetic). This makes the Speedy Sahara a more durable tent than the standard Speedy pop-up range.

What model is this?2 answers

Hi team, I am keen on purchasing one of these Sahara tents, but am finding slightly different versions to be available. The EPE website shows a different colour and what looks like slightly different specs (ie length is not the same between the two) http://www.exploreplanetearth.com.au/explore-planet-earth-catalogue/speedy-tents-online/speedy-tent-sahara/ Are you supplying an old model – or is this just old information, but indeed the latest model? Thanks

- BRIGHTON, VIC(3 years ago)
Hi Tim, we have just received the latest and greatest Speedy Sahara tents last week, and the colours are different to both of the images you mention in your question. I have updated the product stats to reflect the new product, and I am waiting on a current image. It is predominantly grey with an ochre colour along the pole covers and zipper rainflaps. The fabrics are heavier duty with a ripstop thread now, and an awning at the front.
- Snowys(3 years ago)
New images are up on our site now Tim, and I was wrong in my original description of the colours, there is much more of the ochre colour than I originally thought.
