Are the stated sizes of GORTEX gloves generous. I normally take size XL (male)

G'day Gene,

The size chart relates more to your hand measurement, and the gloves will be about a cm bigger than that if measured from the outside.
The finger length is designed to cover all hands, mine are short and stubby, so theres a bit of finger length left in the glove.
Other than that the XTM gloves are fairly universal in size and the majority of people are happy with the fit.
