Pretty good

Quite a decent sleeping bag. Comfortable to 0 degrees. Reasonably light.
Although I took it to Kosciusko in -5 and froze!! I had thermals on and a fleece sleeping bag liner.. I couldn't imagine -8..

As warm as it gets

I used this in central Australia recently on nights about 5 degrees minimum, and my only complaint would be that it was too warm. Did exactly what it was supposed to and packs down to a decent size, considering the amount of warmth it gives.

Used this bag in the cold Clare valley. Was comfortable and warm all night.

We took this sleeping bag on the Overland Track in January, with only one frosty night (but no storms or snow), and was comfortable in the cold. It was a bit warm on the hot nights, but unzipping at top and bottom allowed for good heat control. We did zip two bags together (left and right), but didn't favour that as for some reason one of the bags is smaller than the other by about 5-10cm (didn't measure, but significant). That surprised me. It made me wonder if the snugness I felt when solo sleeping was because of my personal width, or because my bag is overall smaller than my husband's. Definitely in length.

Sleeping bag

I needed this quite urgent as I had an event on and my old sleeping bag wasn't up to the standard so Snowys ensured that I received it on time and the product was great and did the job that I needed

Pretty happy

I'm pretty happy with this bag.
I'm a 177cm tall skinny guy, and I fit in really well. Toasty warm to -1. Haven't tried -8.
Be careful when compacting the bag and watch the stitching around the straps. I went a bit gung ho and almost popped one strap. Not quite as enthusiastic when packing it up now!

NB: REALLY comfy when slept in on a bed with a doona hogging partner :P

Hi, would this sleeping bag equate to a comfort temperature rating of -3degrees for a woman ? 1 answer

Thanks, Ingrid

- Sydney (7 months ago)

G'day Ingrid,

As far as I know there's no direct comparison with temperatures for males and females in these bags and it is different for every person.  As men generally sleep colder than women though you would need a warmer bag for a woman so if you require a -3 bag for a female this -8 bag would be pretty close as there's roughly a 5 degree difference.

what is the comfort level temperature rating on this bag?1 answer

Many thanks, Ingrid

- Sydney(7 months ago)

G'day Ingrid,

The comfort level listed by Black Wolf is rated as -8 degrees celcius so please bear in mind that this is generally for the average male in average health having had a warm meal. Women tend to sleep colder so require a warmer bag. Also, if you've exhausted yourself and don't have access to a hot meal before bed then you may also like a warmer bag.  Please feel free to give us a call if you'd like to discuss further details.

Can you zip two of these together?1 answer

- MELBOURNE, VIC(2 years ago)
Sure can Jono, as long as you purchase one left and one right handed zipper. We don't have a facility on the website to specify this, so give us a call if you place an order and we can ensure alternate zippers are sent to you.

How big is the compression bag?1 answer

Hi, I was just wondering if you could please tell me how big the sleeping bag is in the compression bag? Thank you!

- Sydney(2 years ago)
Hi Deb, before it is compressed, the bag measures approximately 35L x 20W cm. Depending on how much muscle you put into it you can squeeze anywhere from 5 to 10 cm out of the length by tightening the compression straps.

What is the size when fully compressed?

- City Beach(3 years ago)
Hi Johana, without breaking too much of a sweat, I was able to compress the bag down to roughly 25cmØ x 30cm in length.
