Hey gang, I'm tossing up between this the Blackwolf Hexatherm 3D15 Queen and the Oztrail Fatmat Queen. I've had an Exped 10 and like the idea of having a bit more depth but I also can't knock the quality and comfort of the Exped with what I've experienced. I know comfort is subjective but would I be happy with either of those other two options in comparison? Is there anything in terms of warranty and quality wth the other two that might sway me? I've read mixed reviews on the Oztrail quality. Many thanks
G'day Adam,
You're asking an impossible question here! It's really difficult to say whether or not you'd be happy with either of the other mats.
The only thing we can really recommend is reading through reviews/feedback from customers to get an idea of the real life use cases of all the mats in question.
Most people don't own multiple brands of self inflating mats, so any of the feedback you'd be looking would be in isolation of that particular product.
The Oztrail is a great, affordable option more on the entry level end of things, with the Exped mat being the top tier option, and the Blackwolf sitting somewhere in the middle.
At the time of answering this question, Oztrail have a 1 year warranty, BlackWolf have 3 years, and Exped have 5 years. I'd say that aligns generally with the price point, but you also can't discount the longer term impacts of looking after your gear - a 1 year warranty doesn't neccessarily mean that's the practical lifetime of the product.
Ultimately, we aim to sell good gear, so all of the mats you mentioned are a good option - the deciding factor for most people is budget, and product reputation.
Is the Exped Megamat Duo Queen compatible with the Exped Mega Pump?
G'day Jo,
Yep, it most certainly is!
An awesome way to inflate and deflate your mat.
Hi, I'm wanting to deflate the mattress, but keep it flat inside a roof top tent. What's the thickness of the mattress once its deflated, but not rolled up?
G'day Iestyn,
Important to mention EXPED warranty is void if you're keeping your mat in a rooftop tent - this applies to all the Self Inflating mat brands we sell, with the exception of those specifically designed for Roof Top Tent use.
It'd be ok to pack down between campsites, etc but will need to be taken out of the tent between trips.
Deflated thickness would be around 5cm.
