Oztent Bunker Stretcher

There isn't a specific bag we can think of for the bunker that is completely waterproof, however you could look at something like the Nero 190 which is made from a 500D PVC which should do a pretty good job of keeping your bunker dry.

There have been some minor changes to the Bunker since we filmed the comparison video in 2017. The new model is what is shown in the images with the orange trim and the orange Oztent logo. The older model is no longer available, so you can now only get the model with orange trim, and rounded corners on the mesh.

I've just double checked the manual for the Bunker Stretcher and Oztent don't indicate that you need to season the Bunker before you use it.

We find that lots of our customers will go for the Bunker XL Stretcher if they need the extra width and length, but the Canvas model tends to be a little more popular as canvas will generally last a little longer than polyester. Both models have excellent ventilation with zip out mesh panels, so will provide good ventilation for the summer months. In winter we'd suggest pairing both models with a good foam or self-inflating mat and warm sleeping to keep you toasty, as they can be draughty in cold windy weather. Overall both models are made from quality materials, the XL version was made with polyester to keep the overall weight down.

Thanks for the question, just to clarify the Exped Megamat 10LXW will work well inside the Oztent Bunker Stretcher. The previous question you're referring to is a little confusing and we've made the assumption that person was asking if you can but the Bunker Stretcher on another stretcher...but we're not too sure! So yes the 10LXW can be used in the Bunker Stretcher.

While the dimensions indicate that this mat will fit, we wouldn't recommend leaving a deflated/inflated Comfort Plus Rectangular mat inside the Oztent Bunker Stretcher, as there is a chance that it could get damaged.

The Bag material on the Oztent Jet Ten Bunker Stretcher is a nylon material that isn't waterproof. Best bet if you're putting it on the roof rack in the wet would be to wrap it in a tarp, or put it inside a waterproof roof rack bag.

The Oztent Jet Tent Bunker Stretcher isn't the new Bunker Stretcher that Oztent have just released. As soon as we get that brand new one in stock, we'll be sure to put them up online right away.

Despite being made by the same company, these two products are not designed to be joined together sorry, if you had both items then they would be used as completely independent shelters.

We've tried this ourselves before with the display models, and the Megamat 10 LXW will definitely fit inside the Oztent Jet Bunker Stretcher.

As for whether it can be used on a stretcher, I would say that it probably won't be very stable (especially if the ground was on a slight slope) so we probably wouldn't recommend it.

I have personally tried this before, and I found that the Black Wolf Mega Deluxe Camp Mat fits perfectly in the Oztent Jet Bunker Stretcher. And as for entry, there is a door on either side, and one at the top end of the Jet Bunker.

From having a feel of the inside of the bottom of the Jet Bunker in store, it does have a soft surface. If you were using a very thick and cushiony sleeping bag you might be able to get away with no mattress - but for comfort and insulation purposes you're best off using a camp mat inside this stretcher. 

The maximum internal height of this stretcher is about 100cm at the entrance, and it tapers down towards the end - so you'll have plenty of room for a mat, pillow and other bits and bobs you want to keep near you while you sleep. 

Unless you have a stiff breeze blowing through your tent all night Steve, you're never going to avoid condensation, especially in cold conditions. However, you can reduce it by maximising airflow. The Jet Tent Bunker has a vent at the foot end, keep this open and expand the vestibule gusset at the head end rather than zipping it flat against the tent. This encourages air flow through the shelter, the down side of this is that it will be colder inside. Unfortunately the laws of physics dictate how condensation forms, and airflow is the only way to avoid it.
