Recently purchased a 23zero panther 1600 from you guys. Will this fit inside?
G'day Sam,
It wont sorry - way too wide.
Probably worth noting that Self Inflating mats cant be kept in roof top tents, as it voids warranty.
If you do want to use a self inflating mat with the Panther, it will need to be put in and taken our for set up/pack up.
Can you tell me if this mat will fit in the Black Wolf Cicada 2-person hiking tent? I'd like to find a 15cm thick double/queen mat that will fit.
G'day Nicola,
Based on the dimensions, this will fit but will likely push on tent wall at the head or foot end.
You should be ok though, as it won't be too tight, but you'll just want to be mindful of any condensation wicking.
The Exped MegaMat Max would be a better option, as it's a touch shorter.
Hi, what pump should I buy that will have the right attachments to inflate and deflate this mattress?
G'day Kristian,
Theres no pump specifically designed for this valve type, which in common on a range of mats from different brands.
We have the best success with the Coleman Quickpump range.
I read somewhere that these mattresses should be stored in an inflated position, rather that deflated, rolled and stored in its bag. Do you know what the manufacturer recommends?
G'day Sarah,
Ideally its best to store self inflating mats inflated wherever possible, but not everyone has the room.
They're fully bonded, so can be stored rolled up but need to be taken out and used every 2-3 months to keep the foam healthy.
If you're not using it that often for trips, may have a sleep over in the loungeroom for abit of fun.
How long does it take for the BlackWolf Hexatherm 3D15 SP Queen Mattress to self-inflate? Is there a pump available to inflate this mat?
G'day Sarah,
It will take a few days of being left open in a warm spot once the mat is first received, as it's been in a factory compressed state for a long time.
After a couple of trips the foam cells inside the mat will have been well worn in and fully open.
The mat will inflate itself as much as possible, each time when the valves are opened up, but like with all self inflating mats (especially the 15cm ones) you'll likely need to pump abit of air in for a firmer sleeping surface.
Theres a range of different mattress pumps available here, the coleman quick pump may be your best bet.
Hi, I currently use a pretty thin thermarest, for comfort context. I am looking at a queen size mat and have narrowed it down to this or the darche kozi. 1. What would you suggest is the best of the two? 2. Do you have any other feedback which might sway me one way or the other? 3. Will either of these require a pump/additional air top up or are they pretty good with self inflation? 4. Are there any other true queen size mats worth considering? I will be sleeping in a tent but value a small-ish packed product and easy pack down. Cheers.
G'day Dale,
If you're currently on a thin thermarest, then both of these options will feel like ultimate luxury! The Hexatherm is a great option if you want something made with high quality materials, a nice soft touch top finish, and a bag that doubles as a pump sack to help get your mat inflated in record time. The Kozi isn't quite the same quality, and doesn't come with a pump sack, so if you don't have a few hours to allow the mat to really inflate well, then you'll need to pack something to assist the process.
One other option to throw in the mix is the Oztrail 3D Fatmat 1500, it's similar to the other two, however has the same inflation assistance requirement as the Kozi.
Overall my pick would be the BlackWolf Hexatherm.
Hi, which Flextail pump suits this mat? Thanks
G'day,
The pump comes with a range of attachments that make it compatible with pretty much any mat on the market. The attachments work with both the deflate and the inflate ends of the pump.
The valves on the BlackWolf mats work with the flextail on 'inflate' with ease, but it can be abit fiddly on the 'defalte' function as the attachment isn't larger than the valve flange on the mattress.
