Benefits of and comparison with the S2S Boab bag1 answer
Hi, What are the benefits of this bag over Sea to Summit's, -9c, Boab bag? I'm just a bit confused because the Boab bag has a colder comfort rating, seems to pack up a bit smaller and is a bit cheaper. What is the difference in width at the estimated hip level? Since the Boab starts out wider, is it much of a muchness? Is there any difference in the expected lifespan of the two bags? Any other info that you can provide about the differences and benefits of one bag over the other would be really helpful (particularly with women and side sleepers in mind). I've looked at the S2S website and didn't really understand the benefits of this bag over the other. Any other guidance that you can provide about how a sleeping bag should ideally fit to ensure optimum performance would be really helpful. Thanks for your product videos and podcast :)

G'day Camille,
The Boab is a unisex, synthetic, car camping style sleeping bag. The Hamelin is more of a technical synthetic bag designed to be more for hiking use. It has greater zip functionality, comes in a unisex and women's specific version, which is beneficial as you can choose a bag closer to your height requirements. They're both made with the same quality of materials and manufacturing, so there's no difference in terms of longevity. They'll both keep you warm, and do the same job.
Ultimately as a woman I'd recommend going for a womens specific bag, abiding by the max user height. They tend to be more comfortable overall.
