Watching the flame die on your stove after spending the last 4 hours hiking in the freezing cold wind is an experience you won’t have with the Fyrelite – it can boil a litre of water in under 10 minutes even in a 3M/SEC wind. That means you throw on a freeze-dried meal and be eating your dinner by the fire in no time.
You won’t have to worry about your ignition failing to work, as this stove uses a humble match light – old school but reliable. The pan supports are detachable, which makes fitting the
Hi what fuel mix will work with this?
G'day Karen,
The Fyrelight Trekking Stove is compatible with hiking stove gas canisters only, as in Bens video. Any brand will be fine, they generally are a standardised isopropane blend with a Lindal Valve attachment.
Are you able to provide a rough indication how this might compare with the Peak 1 at simmering control? Does it feel similiar or is this more for rapid boiling? Thanks
G'day Karen,
The Fyrelight Trekking Stove puts out a fair amount of heat, but it does have some degree of heat variation, so you should be able to bring the temperature down fairly low. It has similar simmer control to the Peak 1 Stove.
That is with normal no wind Situation.
G'day Cisco,
The 1L boil time is calculated to take 9.8 minutes with a wind speed of 3metres a second.
Do you sell the gas bottles?
G'day Kim,
We do sell the gas bottles for these stoves, however, we're not able to ship them at this point in time, as the cost to transport dangerous goods makes them very expensive to ship individually. They are a very common gas bottle that can be found all over the world, they fit a screw thread hiking style butane canister. You should be able to pick one up from any local camping store, some rural general stores/service stations, and some hardware stores.
