To prevent cold spots, there are vertical baffles over the chest, while the side block baffles keep the down at the top for ultimate insulation and warmth. Whether you’re kipping in your van, heading to your favourite camping spot, or staying in huts – the Explore ExIII Sleeping Bag from Sea to Summit will keep you warm and comfortable.

Is there a separate zip in foot box area for ventilation if required . Non
G'day Garry,
Yes, there is a separate footbox zipper so that you can open up the foot area and cool down your toes as needed.
What are the main differences between the Explore range and the Ascent range of sleeping bags?
G'day Sang,
The main difference between the Explore Ex3 and Ascent Ac3 comes down to the shape and materials used. The Explore has a comfort temp of -8'C, and has dual zippers so can be opened from either side. They are much wider across the chest hip and foot that the Ascent. The Ascent Ac3 has a comfort -11'C, it has a full zip on the left side, and a half zip on the right side. They are narrower accross the chest, hip and foot. Overall the Ascent Ac3 is a similar packed size and weight, for a slightly warmer sleeping bag.
Sea to Summit Explore Ex3 Sleeping Bag (-8 C)
G'day Serge,
I assume you're referring to the foot end when you ask if it is a box construction? If so, then yes the Ex3 has a footbox, and YKK zippers with the Sea to Summit Free Flow zip system.
I'm looking for a bag that has this feature as an option and I note that it only comes LH zip.
G'day Damian,
As all of the Sea to Summit Explore bags are dual zippered, meaning it has full zips on both sides, the 'left zipper' isn't applicable. Thanks so much for picking that up, we'll fix that information! To confirm, two single basecamps bags will zip together to create a double when needed, however as the bottom of the bag is curved the joint at the bottom wont be quite flush.
Hi The dimensions of this bag are stated as 31 x 18cm. The photo shows the packed bag being bigger than the camelbak water bottle. Compare to this other S2S sleeping bag- https://www.snowys.com.au/ascent-ac2-sleeping-bag-4-c Which is smaller than the water bottle in the photo, but has larger packed dimensions of 39 x 18.5cm Are you able to confirm!? Thanks!
G'day Simon,
We don't physically have an Explore Ex3 here to measure as they are a special order item that we've not actually had available to physically measure. Sea to Summit list the compression sack size as a medium, these have a 15L capacity and in use dimensions of 20cm diameter and 46cm long. When compressed the bag will generally compress down a third or so of the size. I'll get our specifications team to try and update the size specifications as best they can.
