Hey guys, How much weight could this cupboard take without it collapsing without having a locking mechanism on the legs?
G'day Bec,
We've given the Eco Fold Twin Camp Cupboard a shake test and we're pretty confident that the lack of legs locks won't cause you any problems. In terms of weight on the top: Zempire doesn't specify a weight, but we'd suggest anything heavier than a camping stove or small BBQ might be a little heavy.
Just hoping you could please tell me the rough dimensions of the internal shelf cavities. Thank you!
G'day Amy,
The Eco Fold Twin shelves are 42cm across by 38cm deep by 37cm high. Hopefully, that will give you an idea of what you can fit.
Is this product suitable to leave outside in the weather while camping rather than being kept inside in the tent? Will the material/bamboo warp, deteriorate etc. ?
G'day Glenda,
We'd generally recommend you leave the Eco Fold Twin Camp Cupboard under the awning of a tent, or a gazebo. If they're left out in the rain they make warp and deteriorate over time.
I have bought camping cupboards before and found that the shelves just bend with the load and I only had light clothing on them. I want something to hold our food which is heavier. What would this cupboard be like and how does it compare to the Oztrail one.
G'day Jacqueline,
I've just double checked and the shelves in the Eco FOld Twin Camp Cupboard appear nearly identical to the Oztrail shelf inserts. I think all companies use a very similar design, so might be best storing heavy items on the bottom shelf where there will be less impact from a bend in the shelf.
You have a very good video on the oztent camper cupbaord, was wondering how sturdy are the folded legs and does it have a locking mechanism like the oztent?
They are not secured like the Oztent stretcher, Chu. They do sit firmly in place but they don't feature the same sliding lock.
Is it sturdy enough to be able to lay it on the bottom of a car boot and have a bunch of stuff packed onto it (including a fairly heavy esky)?
G'day Paul,
These seem pretty sturdy packed into their carry bag but I'd probably be a bit concerned about something like a loaded esky on top. My main concern would be damaging it while the car is bouncing down a backroad somewhere adding more pressure than when its just sitting stationary. To be on the safe side I'd try to stack it on top if possible.
Is the top replaceable if it becomes worn out or broken?
G'day Paul,
I've been down and had a look at these and the tabletop is just screwed on, so in theory, you should be able to replace it. The catch is Zempire don't sell replacements so you'd need to do a bit of DIY and make something yourself.
We have a metal canopy on the back of our vehicle - and i wondered if we have the camp cupboard set up full of clothes, Would that be ok? Or would the road vibrations cause too many troubles??
G'day Adelle,
Great question about the Eco Fold Twin Camp Cupboard, my first thought is that it should be fine from a weather point of view, from a vibration point of view it's really hard to say. I've had a look at the hinges and they don't have a locking pin in them, just an elbow style hinge that holds tight when they're up, without testing it on a corrugated road it's really hard to say how they would fare.
Been trying to find photos of this unit packed away but even the manufacture's website doesn't have anything - are you able to post any of your store unit?
G'day Aron,
I've not got a Zempire Eco Fold Twin Camp Cupboard instore at the minute but have arranged to have one sent over tomorrow. Once it's here, I'll get it out and get some photos for you.
Legends; look forward to it.
G'day Aron,
We've popped a few photos up (with a super handsome model), let us know if they're not exactly what you were looking for.
Can it handle the biolite campstoves or the msr stoves?
G'day Nadine,
We probably wouldn't recommend using the surface of the Zempire Eco Fold Twin Camp cupboard to cook on, as you would risk scorching the bamboo surface.
We also couldn't be confident that it would be stable enough to cook on either. I hope this helps, Nadine.
Can I use this as a cooking station ,put my weber on it to cook?
G'day Sonia,
I've just given the Zempire Eco Fold Twin Camp Cupboard that we've got on the shop floor a bit of a run through its paces and I'm pretty confident that it'll have no issues with being sturdy enough for your Weber.
Hi Snowys, What does the pull out tool rack look like on this cupboard please? Im trying to decide which one to get. Cheers
G'day Sam,
The tool rack is on the left-hand side of the Zempire Eco Fold Twin Camp Cupbards in the photo. You'll notice the two rows of pouches that you can put your utensils and tools into.
Wondering if items on the bottom shelf would get wet on bad weather
G'day Emma-Leigh,
I've just taken my trusty tape measure down to the shop floor to have a look at one of the Zempire Eco Fold Twin Camp Cupboards & it has about a 3cm clearance from the floor at the bottom of the shelf. It would be worth noting though, that the little feet in each corner can be screwed out an extra 3cm or so which means that if you wanted to, you could increase that clearance to about 6cm. You have to have some pretty serious weather to end up with wet food when the feet are screwed out!
Does the actual cupboard storage unit have to be removed when packing up? Or does ir stay attached to frame? Is the bamboo top suitable to have a butane burner placed on it or would it burn?
G'day Andrew,
The entire Zempire Eco Fold Twin Camp Cupboard can remain as it is when packing up and setting up. We would recommend against placing any cooker straight, especially a butane one onto the Bamboo surface as it is likely to cause damage in some way. The best surface for any cooker is a metal one.
