The 270 Freestanding LED Awning by Darche covers all grounds with heavy-duty strength.
Boasting X-tube aluminium alloy hardware in the rafter arms, backing plate, and hinges, this awning holds its ground with ultimate outback durability. A robust 230gsm ripstop polycotton canvas is tough against the outdoor elements, featuring a 3000mm waterhead rating and additional height to promote water run-off in wetter weather.
Spanning across 11.5 square metres of space and withstanding wind speeds of up to 30km/hour without poles or pegs, a fully-enclosed transit cover and two-piece backing plate also maximises weather resistance – so you can spread these wings through wind, rain, and shine. Plus, step up your setup by switching it up, thanks to the height-adjustable brackets to suit a wide range, while dimmable white and amber LED lighting integrated on four rafter arms offer after-dark dynamics!
Cruise from campsite to campsite with a superior setup for respite – the Darche 270 Freestanding LED Awning L.

I have read review online and seen YouTube videos of the bag leaking pretty badly. Have you guys had any feedback from customers regarding this? Could it be a bad bag design, or installation error. Any feedback would be much appreciated.
G'day Wayne,
There are some rubber end caps and small washers that need to be refitted after installing the awning to your roof rack system.
If these are not replaced, water can get into the channels of the backing plate, and run through the bolt holes.
This is the only thing we've heard of that relates to ingress issues with the bag.
I've read that the 270 freestanding LED awning comes with mounting brackets but I can't find any in my package
G'day Sophia,
This awning is shipped in two boxes, with the bracket and fixings kit being in the second box.
Check your tracking information which will list a partial or split delivery, and show the progress for the delivery of the second box.
Is the Darche awning room tent compatible with the new freestanding awning
G'day Adam,
It is compatible, yep! As with any of the wall sets, you'll need to set up the awning legs though due to the additional weight on the frame.
Does the 270 freestanding awning come with mounting brackets or do they need to be put chased separately?
G'day Karen,
Yes, the Eclipse 270 Freestanding LED Awning comes with mounting brackets.
Hi, We have a Darch’s 270 and are looking to upgrade. We have all the walls for our existing one but don’t know if they are Gen 1 or 2. We bought them in 2017/18. If they are Gen 1 are they still compatible to this LED model. Thanks
G'day Helen,
Yes, the existing walls (both Gen 1 & 2) are compatible with the new Freestanding LED Awnings.
Hi, Can you tell me the spacing between the two mounting channels on the back of the awning? I.e. The distance between the 2 slots that the mounting brackets attach to. I have a pop top campervan that already has some awning brackets permanently installed, so just want to see if this awning would fit those brackets.
G'day Alan,
There's 3 different distance possibilities as there are 4 mounting channels on the back for flexibility.
These channels arent evenly spaced - they're in sets of two closer to the top and bottom edges.
Ive taken the measurements of the 3 possible bracket possitions, centre to centre on a standard yellow stanley 8mm tape measure.
Hopefully one of them will work for you!
Outer channels - 145mm
An outter and inner channel - 103mm
Inner channels - 62mm
Hey what is the length between the two channels
G'day Barney,
Just to confirm, are you talking about the channels on the backing plate of the awning itself?
The t-channel bolts are designed to go into the channels on your roof rack system to anchor the bolts down, so just want to make sure we're getting the right answer for you.
I have a 2021 Highline Amarok with premium VW canopy and 3 x VW crossbars (no roof rack). 2 bars on cab and one bar on canopy. No fitting instructions on Darche site or YouTube and no pictures of the unit on a vehicle with cross bars only (they all seem to have roof racks or platforms). Before I purchase, will this product suit cross bar fitment?
G'day Michael,
This awning can be mounted on cross bars, but it isn't suitable for your set up sorry - I've also got an Amarok & canopy.
It's also not advised to mount the awning partially on the cab, and partially on the canopy, as these sections move independently of one another, causing torsion and flexing which puts stress on the backing plate & mounting hardware.
Any damage that occurs due to mounting across the canopy & cab is not covered by warranty.
If you are able to transfer that 3rd rail so all three are fixed to the cab roof, and you can mount the awning with no more than 60cm of unsecured length on either end, then you'll be grand.
Does this come in a drivers side version. (RHS)
G'day Russell,
It may potentially come in a Drivers Side or RHS option in the future, but Darche only range a left side or passenger version at this stage.
