Velco'd Flaps & Monstamat KS2 answers
Looking to retire the 20 year old Swag and buy my final Swag. Comparing the Dirty Dee to the Ridgedome but wanting to save some coin and it looks like Darche don't do a Ridgedome Skin - unless you know otherwise. I have a couple of Zempire Monstamats in my Double Swag and won't go camping again without them. Two questions. 1) I'm concerned that the Velcro Flaps will blow around in strong winds compared to Zippered Flaps. I know I could string them to the Frame Rings but doing it in a 'big blow' wouldn't be fun. Do you think the Velcro Flaps of the Dirty Dee are up to handling most conditions or are the Ridgedome Zippered Flaps far superior? 2) I like the 1100 vs 900 for elbow and change room. The Monstamat KS is 199L x 77W cm so the width is 33cm short of the 1100. If the frame structure and body supports keeping the floor taut then I could use the Monstamat KS and have room for gear. Do you think the frame and build of the Dirty Dee and Ridgedome are up to keeping the floor taut without a fitted mattress to keep it in shape? If your advice is that the Ridgedome is significantly better I'll find the extra coin but with the addition of a Monstamat KS and a weatherproof Carry Bag it is starting to add up. In either case I need to know if the SIM being 33cm short on width is an issue. I generally prefer Zippers to Velcro and D Rings to Plastic Buckles and I'd like good sitting Head Height at 6' tall so each have advantages and disadvantages. I also like to throw my Swag on a Stretcher when solo or duo but it looks like they would both do that well. Looking forward to your advice. p.s. Do you guys not stock the Zempire Chill Pill because you have something better?

G'day John,
You've got alot going on in this inquiry so I'll do my best to provide some helpful information, or give you the answers you need! The Ridgedome is not available as a skin, so the Dirty Dee would suit you already having your own mattress'. I really love the Dirty Dee, and whilst the foot end windows are velcro secured, it is of great quality and should do the trick in most conditions. The only real downside to the velcro is long term durability, and after a few years of adventures it may need to be replaced, although this should be fairly straightforward for a canvas or awning place to take care of. It terms of flooring, both swags are freestanding and hold shape fairly well, to make sure it stays taut you can peg out the corners and center rings. When it comes to head height the Dirty Dee wins on that, being a good couple of cm taller than the Ridgedome. You have mentioned use with a stretcher and I do want to point out that neither option is going to work with a stretcher, as at present there is no stretcher compatible with 1100 wide swags. If you are wanting a swag for stretcher use, stick with the 900 size.
With regards to your Chill Pill inquiry, we have an awesome range of Sea to Summit inflatable pillows, so make sure to check those out. If you have any other questions or need to clarify any of the above, please call on 1300 914 007. I definately understand this will be an important purchase for you, so more than happy to give you any further help you need with your decision.

G'day John,
That sounds like a well thought out plan of attack there! The 23Zero Bandit 900 is a great option. 23Zero is fairly new to Snowys so we dont have any direct long term experience, however I was speaking to a customer the other day who has had his 23Zero swag (purchased elsewhere) for 7 years and has been very happy. I believe they use an ever so slightly lower grade of canvas to save on overall cost to the customer, but their materials and build quality is comparible to some of the higher end brands. Im sure you'll be very happy with your choice.
