does the fly fold up with the tent, or is it installed separately?
Hi Nik,
The fly can stay on the whole time which defintely helps for a faster set up and pack down.
Hello! I was wondering if there is much risk of water sitting and getting trapped under the tent on the platform in the rain with the little lip around the edge of the platform. If used in the rain would the tent need to be removed from the platform to allow it to all dry? Many thanks, Katherine
G'day Katherine,
The platform is aluminium, so getting wet isnt an issue there - you've also got the roof top tent with a heavy duty PVC base, and more tent like materials instead of a heavy duty style canvas.
There's no real difference in gear care between this roof top tent and a normal one, especially after rain.
Best practice for all roof top tents would be to set them up to dry properly at home before packing away longer term.
Hope that helps.
What are the dimensions of the mattress?
G'day Richard,
The sleeping space dimensions / open dimensions are 243L x 148W cm.
The external dimensions include the extended rain fly.
Hope that helps!
Hi, I would like to ask the actual sleeping area. I would like to move to a Rtt but, I don't think I can stop using my zempire monstamat double 🙂
G'day Furkan,
You shouldnt have any issues using your Monstamat in the Darche detachable rooftop tent, you'll just have to remove it between trips. Its not designed to be stored in a roof top, and wont be covered under warranty if any issues arrise.
can I leave a double sleeping bag in while folded ?
G'dau Anthony,
Generally, it's not something we'd advise, as it can provide extra bulk which can put pressure on the hinge mechanisms. However if you have a pretty compact and lightweight sleeping bag (e.g. down), then it could be fine for transit between sites, just be sure to check it won't pinch when folding.
Hi, I'm interest in this RTT. I'd like to see how easy /challenging it is to set up and set down when it is installed on a 4wd. A video showing a full set up and set down would be great. Thank you. Bob
Thanks Bob, we'll get it on the list for videos, however, it'll be a while before we get to it. It might be worth reaching out to Darche to see if they have any video footage of them too!
