Darche Cold Mountain 1100 Sleeping Bag −12°

We have tried this out in-store to confirm the right process!

You will need to lay each bag side by side and then completely unzip both the zippers in the middle which would be a left and right zipper on each bag. They should have double zippers and the ends have silver endings where you can slide them off.

You can then join each side of the bag, starting with the bottom/underside of the sleeping bag. Connect the two zips onto the opposite bag, then zip up with one zipper and that will connect the base/underside of the sleeping bag.

Then join the top 2 sides together by connecting the 2 zippers and then use one zip to connect the top layer of the sleeping bag.

You should then have a nice and cosy double sleeping bag!

Darche suggests the below when washing your sleeping bag:

Hand wash only.
Wash separately in warm water using mild detergent.
Hand rinse thoroughly.
To dry lay in the shade on a flat surface.
Do not machine wash or dry clean.
Do not iron.

You could machine wash the bag on a gentle cycle in a front-loading washing machine at your own risk. Warm water would be the best used and nothing over 40°C.

Yes this will fit comfortably in the 23Zero Dual 1100 Swag, you can also roll this up in the swag, the swag bag does have a little extra room to allow for this.

Not at all.  This is a car camping or 4WD sleeping bag, that is too big and too heavy for hiking.

No, its not.  Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any sleeping bag that comes with a waterproof sack.
You can always look at getting a Dry Sack as an alternative - if you were interested in this option you'd need the 35L size.

If you're bike or moto touring, consider the Big River sacks - they're just a lot more robust/tougher, and have lash points on the outside.

You'd be fine.  These measurements are taken with the sleeping bag flat, and not with a large 3D body inside.
Worst case scenario you'll have a bit of sleeping bag bunched up on the edges, but it won't affect performance - you'll probably just feel super squishy and comfortable.

Yes, both the 900 and 1100 models have zippers on both sides. When you zip them together both people will have the hood underneath them as they join together using the side zippers.

We've given this a go before, and unfortunately, the zippers on the two bag types are a little different, so the canvas model isn't able to be zipped to the polyester model.

The Cold Mountain 1100 -12'C is made from a 70 denier polyester that is fairly robust so we're confident they're made well and shouldn't rip.

The difference between the Darche Cold Mountain 900 and 1100 Sleeping Bags is the width. Generally, when you see "900", "1100" or "1400" these numbers represent the width in mm. So the Cold Mountain 900 means the width of the bag is 900mm wide and 1100 means the bag is 1100mm wide. In this case, though, the width of 900 bag is a bit short- it's actually 850mm and the 1100 bag is wider, at 1140mm. Due to the difference in size, the weights of the bags also differ by 300 grams.  I hope this helps :)

Unfortunately, the zips on the Darche Cold Mountain 1100 and Oztrail Cotton Canvas Mega Sleeping Bags have different zippers on them, so you can't zip the two together. 

These will zip together as a double bag Fred, they are the same length and feature both left and right zippers on each, so will pair together nicely.

I'll jump in with some advice on using them as a hiking bag though. These are by no means a compact bag, and they weigh in at almost 3 times the average weight of a sleeping bag for hiking. You may find that by the time you stick one of these in a rucksack, you'll have little room left for any other gear.

I'd recommend looking at the Roman range of sleeping bags for something suitable for hiking in roughly the same price range. THese won't pair with the Cold Mountain bag though.

The main body of the Darche Cold Mountain 1100 Sleeping Bag -12° is 210cm and the hood is an additional 40cm.

My encouragement would be to try and avoid contact with the walls as much as possible to avoid any possible condensation. The size of the Sleeping Bag is so big to give you the comfort and allowance of space, but unless you're 2.3m you should be able to avoid the walls relatively easy.
