A camp oven, frypan, and saucepan in one, the Hillbilly BushRanger 7.5 litre Camp Oven is a tough and versatile camp cooking system.
A compact and tough camp oven for couples and small families, the BushRanger is made of spun steel which means it can take more knocks than its heavy cast iron counterparts.
Made of heavy duty steel welded together and touched up with paint to keep the rust at bay, a good clean and a seasoning with fresh cooking oil will ensure your Hillbilly gear lasts you a lifetime.
Hi, I've seen in another question that the internal diameter at the base is 240mm. Can you please advise what it is at the top and the internal height to the base of the lid. Cheers.
G'day Chris,
No worries! The diameter at the top is 28cm, and a rough gauge of overall depth when the lid is on is 12cm.
Dont forget you can get extension rings to increase the overall depth if you need.
Hey guys, just bough this from you and we are completely confused as to how to handle is supposed to lift the lid and the pot (independently) lol. It seems really fiddly. Do we have to bend the handle? Is there a trick to it?
G'day Chelsea,
The handle slots into the sides of the lid if you're wanting to use it just to lift the lid. If you're wanting to lift the entire camp oven then you slot the handles through the handles at the side of the camp oven. There is no need to bend anything, they are pre-bent to the correct angles and widths to fit.
Hi, do you know if these will fit into a standard plastic milk crate? Thanks
G'day Jason,
Unfortunately, the Bushranger 7.5L Camp Oven is a little large to fit in a standard Aussie milk crate.
What size roast (pork or beef) would this likely suit? I'm looking to cook a roast pork up to 2kg and was wondering if this would be suitable or the 12.5L would be a better fit?
G'day Phil,
The general consensus here is that we think that the 7.5L will suit a 1-1.5kg roast, but for anything larger, the 12.5L might be a better option.
Wondering if you know if this fits in a Weber Baby Q with the lid down?
G'day Megan,
Great question, we're not too sure if the Bushranger Camp Oven will fit under the closed hood of a Baby Q as we don't actually sell Weber. We've got all the dimensions on our site so maybe you can try and measure the inside of your weber before you order and decide based on that!
With the 7 fit inside the 12?
G'day Ryan,
I've just double checked and unfortunately, the Bushranger 7.5L doesn't fit inside the Bushking 12.5L.
Hey just wondering what comes with the hillbilly bush ranger. Thanks
G'day Hayden,
You can check out the Hillbilly BushRanger 7.5L Kit 2 here- the accessories include:
Otherwise, the Hillbilly Bushranger 7.5L is a stand-alone camp oven.

G'day Sammy,
You should be fine to use the Hillbilly Bushranger 7.5L with the Campfire Tripod. They are made from 9mm steel and designed to hold the cast iron camp ovens that are a fair bit heavier than the Bushranger so it shouldn't be a problem
Could this be used on a Companion 2 burner stove or only over a fire?
G'day Hamish,
You can certainly use the Hillbilly Bushranger 7.5L on a Companion 2 burner stove. They might take a little longer to heat up, and won't function as an 'oven' without coals on the top, but you can still use it as a large pot on the stove.
Hi, what’s the paint used? I assume it’s safe but curious to know please. And how this is the steel? And warranty (sorry if that info is included, I didn’t see it). Cheers
Hi Kate,
The Hillbilly Bushranger is made from Spun Blue Steel, has a one year warranty and doesn't have a layer of paint on it. I’ve just measured the one we have downstairs as Hillbilly don’t provide the thickness on their website, at it looked to be 2mm thick to me.
It does have oil on it from manufacture though, so you will need to clean and season it before use. I hope this helps Kate.
Would this be ok to use on the Ozpig? Looking for an lighter weight alternative to the boar which is sold in the ozpig range?
G'day Chris,
The Hillbilly 7.5L Bushranger does fit on the Ozpig, although the lid will just touch the chimney so it sits slightly toward the front. Cooking in it on an Ozpig should be fine, it's made from similar materials to the Big Boar.
In Australia?
G'day Renee,
I have just double checked this, and the manufacturer's website says that the Bushranger is made in Australia.
many thanks - I need to be able to fit a whole chook in
G'day Barry,Â
I've just popped downstairs and measured the Hillbilly Bushranger 7.5L oven, and the diameter of the base is 24cm so you could probably squeeze a small chook in there - in fact if you're planning on doing that we'd recommend a trivet to stand it on while it cooks.Â
