Gave this to my husband for his birthday, before we headed off on our first real camping trip. Compact, packs down well, quickly learned the trick to carry it, when assembled, at an angle where the handles of the plate stay in the grooves. Looking at the product shot, I think we had the plate on up side down!!! FAIL.....
This is a great unit and it folds down to a nice compact size and works really well. It will be going on all my next trips. Well worth it's money
Using this BBQ over open fires for about a year now.
Hot plate could be a little heavier gauge steel but if you get your coals correct it is OK.
Had to modify the "slots" so that it is a bit more dummy proof but not mandatory.
Woods does not burn as fast due to wind sheild which is good. Comes with me when ever I go 4x4'ing.
I gather this item does not come with its own carry bag :( Can you tell me if it fits in the "Oztrail 3 burner stove and BBQ plate bag" or the "Companion transit bag to suit takeaway BBQ bag"?
I've just checked with our display stock and the Companion Transit Bag to suit Takeaway BBQ Bag and the Oztrail 2 Burner Stove and BBQ Plate Bag, unfortunately, don't fit the Kookaburra Bush BBQ. We're currently out of stock of the Oztrail 3 Burner Stove and BBQ Plate Bag, but I reckon this one might fit. Can you leave this with me and I'll check as soon as stock comes in?
G’day David, I’ve just measured it myself and the plate of the Campfire Bush BBQ is approx. 3mm thick, and the walls of the stand measure approx. 2mm.
