A lot quicker and easier to set up than air mattress and much more room in the tent with storage underneath.
Its easy to put up, quite comfortable but I have a medical condition so I put an eggshell topper on it and its great. More room in our tent now and we can also store things underneath.
Our cross leg high stretchers wore out so bought one Big Sky to try out. The foam mattress looks thin but Hubby seems comfortable enough even with his hip being sore. Like all camp beds, they tend to get damp under the mattress from body heat (we're in Qld.), so we put a towel between stretcher and mattress. Similar height to our previous cross over leg high stretchers, so we can still stow bags underneath. Easier than stretchers to set up. Need a larger space in the car to carry them than for stretchers which roll up into a narrow long bag. Recommend them as best choice if you have room to carry them.
I have tried 3 stretchers, 2 air beds and 2 different types of foam on one of the stretchers in the last few months and usually my lower back and hip is in so much pain within the hour I have the worst nights sleep. Not so with this bed! I can't believe that it is so good to sleep on. I think it's the springs around the canvas that helps it form a bit more where you need it to flex rather than the solid side stretchers.
nice camping bed !better then air bed for sure
I'm really happy with this camper bed. I'm a bigger lady and it holds my frame quite well. Rolling around in the night proved no problem to this camper bed. I thought I'd need an inflatable mattress as well, but my hip managed quite well without it, although I may still invest for longer camping stays. The design of the legs also gives me a piece of mind that I won't puncture the floor of my tent.
Love this bed, made camping trip so much better having a great sleep. I was a little skeptical at first as the foam is somewhat thin, but the stretcher part and the spring system made it very comfy. Spent 10 hours sleeping in it one night, and woke rested and no aches at all. Definitely recommend this bed. Will be buying more later for the kids. I bought them oztrail self inflating mattresses at same time. Wish I'd spent the extra on getting these instead.
This bed was ideal for the purpose. Straightforward to set up, comfortable for a good night's sleep. Other gear could be stowed underneath, so the tent wasn't crowded.
Is the mattress included in the price?
G'day Elly May,
Yes the foam mattress is definitely included with the Coleman Big Sky Bed.
Hi Hannah, I thought we had one in stock but there was an error in our inventory, so all I have to go off is the information from our supplier which says the measurements are 90 x 68 x 15cm. We should be getting stock in very, very soon so I can double check this for you personally as soon as it arrives. I should be able to get back to you in 1-2 days.
G'day Hannah, so I've just checked it for you and the packed measurements are: 92 x 66 x 15cm. When unfolded the bed is 34cm in height, and 188cm in length. Sorry for the delay in the answer, I hope this was helpful for you!
