The next gen of swags have arrived, they’re from Darche’s Air-Volution range, and they’re going to change the way you sleep in the great outdoors.
The inflatable poles in the AD are made from puncture resistant TPU covered by durable PE pole sleeves for an extra level of protection. To set it up, you just hook it up to the high capacity hand pump, and in less than half a minute you’ll be all set to snooze. Made from Darche’s high quality proofed canvas that’s seam sealed to prevent leaks, and featuring storm covers and a reinforced PVC floor - this swag will keep you dry and protected from the elements.
With a full zip down head and foot ventilation windows, you can get plenty of fresh air circulating - and stay cool inside your shelter. The 50mm cotton covered mattress will keep you in luxurious comfort, so all you’ll need is a sleeping bag and pillow and you’ll be ready to settle in. If you’re looking to make your sleeping set up a complete no-brainer, then look no further than the Darche AD 900 Swag.

How does this go in alpine conditions? Like light snow and overnight temps to -10? Do the poles deflate much as the air inside shinks like with inflatable mattresses?
G'day Huy,
Generally you adjust the PSI of your poles depending on conditions eg. if its hot your wont inflate them as much. If its cold you can inflate them to a higher PSI.
In terms of the swag and canvas itself, lots of people use Darche swags in the snow without any issues. Just make sure your swag is well-seasoned before you go.
I have the Oztrail Easy Fold Single Stretcher and I really don't want to buy a second stretcher... Would it still be okay to use with this swag?
G'day Sophia,
No Problems! The Oztrail easy fold will be fine with this swag.
I currently use this mattress in my 23 zero 900 dual swag. Will this fit or is it too big with air poles.
G'day Paul,
If your BlackWolf Hexatherm XL Mattress is about 200L x 90W cms you should be able to squeeze this in there. I've just checked with someone in-store and they can confirm it will fit.
Hi, does anyone know how much this swag weighs without the supplied matress? I would like to use it with an inflatable hiking sleep pad when camping on a motorbike.
G'day Ryan,
I've just heard back from Darche and the weight of the AD 900 swag mattress would be around 1kg. So with the mattress taken off the swag would weigh about 10.9kgs.
I am looking to upgrade from my current Dirty Dee 900 Swag, like the idea of no poles. That said, it is roomy, width and height. Can you please let me know which Air-volution would be equivalent in terms of internal space, width and height?
G'day Romy,
Ultimately neither of the Air-Volution swags will be as roomy as the Dirty Dee.
The Dirty Dee is a very different structure with the segmental poles (not hoops) and the total frame holding all of the swag canvas as open & out as possible.
With the Air-Volution or same style hooped swags, the only structure is through the hooped ends.
Even with a ridge pole there isnt anything through the centre of the swag to stop the sides sagging in.
The 1100 is going to give you the most room, but it's going to be a very different kind of space to the Dirty Dee.
Would this work well with the 100 XL stretcher and the 900 All Terrain mat I recently purchased from you?
G'day Marc,
Yes, the Darche XL100 stretcher is designed for use with Darche 900 swags.
The ATM is also 900 wide, which will correspond to the width of the 900 AirVolution.
You'll be sleeping comfy!
Would the Black Wolf 2D Mega Deluxe Single Mattress fit inside?
G'day Andrew,
Yes, the Black Wolf 2D Mega Deluxe Mattress will fit in the AD900 swag. It will be a little smaller than the supplied foam mattress, but it will still be a good fit, and provide some extra comfort.
Can this be blown up with a compressor, or do you have to use the pump?
G'day Andrew,
Generally, most air compressors won't have the right fittings to inflate an air pole swag. We'd recommend sticking with the supplied pump, as it will only take about 20 seconds, and you won't risk damaging your swag due to a moment of inattention with a compressor.
I just set up my 900 version and one end appears to be taller than the other. Is this intentional?
G'day SN,
Yes, the head end of the AD 900 is a little higher than the foot end. This helps to reduce the chance of water pooling on the top of the swag.
I’ve heard that narrower is better so you have a mattress that sags in the middle, but wider is better because rain can’t get onto stretcher and seep under Swag. Opinions? How about 1100 swag with the 77mm Exed Mega Mat inside, might that give best of both?
G'day Richard,
The AD 900 swag is 90cm wide, and the Oztrail Easy Fold Single Jumbo Stretcher is also the same width, so we'd probably recommend that. You'll generally be best with a stretcher that is the same size so that the rain runs off the swag and doesn't pool between the swag and stretcher. If you wanted to put a different mattress in the swag then you could use the Exped Megamat, however using that in the 1100 wide might leave you with lots of excess internal space.
When the swag is rolled up, what are the dimensions?
G'day Sam,
If you double-check our Packed Dimensions we've got the size listed there for you.
Would it be safe to roll this up with Exped Megamat in it?
G’day Dan, This is such a comfortable mattress and I'd definitely recommend it for use in your swag. Make sure the Megamat is deflated though before rolling it up inside your swag. We’ve had good feedback from other customers and our staff who use it in their swags too - and they all find it works really well.
