Spacious living for a family holiday or sleeping quarters for 12. The OZtrail 12x15 Cabin Tent offers generous living space, in a strong and sturdy structure. Tough canvas upper and puncture resistant reinforced PVC vinyl flooring ensures the kids won’t destroy your camp accommodation in their holiday excitement. They can even have their own space in the tent with a choice of a 2 or 3 room setup via the removable hanging room divider.
The near vertical walls provide plenty of head and shoulder room, easily accessed through oversized D doors and low sills to minimise tripping. Insects are kept at bay thanks to the No-See-Um Mesh windows and doors which also provide excellent ventilation. A silver coated roof reflects heat preventing your tent from becoming a sauna in the hot Australian weather.
Additional features include lantern hanging loop, interior organiser and a power port inlet, and optional extras which enable you to turn the extended front awning into a screen room with a vinyl floor. The OZtrail 12x15 Cabin Tent will become your holiday home away from home.

How would the 12×15 cabin tent hold up in cairns troplical weather with extreme wind and rain

G'day Chris,
Canvas tents are a great choice for more adverse weather conditions as they can handle stronger winds and rain. The downside, especially in a humid climate is drying them out, as the canvas will very quickly go mouldy if it isn't dried out completely before packing away. Having lived in Darwin as well, I'm really reluctant to recommend this for use in the true tropics and would suggest a polyester tent with either a geodesic frame or air poles such which are built to withstand stronger then normal winds.

I've had a look on youtube for an instructional video, but I came up short, unfortunately.
The best I could find is an instructional manual for the older model, which should still give you a fairly good idea of how it all comes together which you can see here.

Suitable for Australian summerr1 answer
Hi, The 12x15 is suitable for 3 sessions but can you let me know if a canvas is better suited for the Australian summer than a dome tent. We are looking for a tent that we can use during the summer even with 40 degrees.

A canvas tent will have some extra benefits in the heat as the fabric will block light better making it darker inside the tent, and is quite breathable which will help to keep it from getting too stuffy inside your shelter.Â
As for whether it will hold up better than a dome tent with a synthetic fabric in 40 degree weather - you're probably still going to be quite warm with either tent, but at least with a cabin style tent you will have more room, and the canvas is a natural fibre which is going to be more breathable compared to a synthetic material. Â

corner elbows 1 answer
I need to replace the corner elbows 25mm (Part 7) on our older style tent, the 12x15 Cabin Tent is similar but our entry doors are on each side and it could be 12x18 the frame structure is the same but it does not have an awning. Our tent colour is orange and brown. Would these be available or will I need to get them made.

If it's an Oztrail tent Helen then we should be able to don our detective hats and find out what can be done to get your tent back into shape, any other brands may be a little harder. Hi I've owned oztents and turbo tents previously but with the family getting into camping now I'm interested in a canvas cabin tent. How does the quality stack up against the oztent and blackwolf?

When it comes to the canvas range from Oztrail Somin, the quality is comparable to Black Wolf and Oztrail canvas tents. The main difference with the Oztrail cabin tents is the time in which it takes to erect the tent. Oztent and Black Wolf all feature integrated 'quick pitch' frames, whereas the Oztrail range have steel frames that need to be pieced together. It takes longer, but gives you a very sturdy and roomy shelter for extended stays.

It is certainly more time consuming to erect than most dome style tents Gail. It requires more effort in putting the frame together, and the materials are heavier to handle when compared to synthetic domes, but once it is erected the structure is sturdy and roomy. I would recommend this for medium to long stays. It is not ideal in situations where you are setting it up daily. Can the tent be erected without the awning?1 answer
I'm looking for a 2 room tent, but to go in a limited space. There may not be enough room for the awning. Can the awning be left off, or folded back onto the roof?

Hi Matt, the awning is attached permanently on these. I guess you could fold it back but I am not sure how well you could secure it, especially in wind. You may be best considering something from the Family Dome Tent range such as the Outdoor Connection Bedarra. These have a smaller footprint, and still have awnings that can be extended when space permits.
