If you’re new to hiking, then you’re probably a little hesitant to drop a whole paycheck on the speckiest tent on the market, then the Spartan 3P from Explore Planet Earth is the perfect option.

The colour coded frame means set up is going to be easy as, and the UV 50+ fire retardant fly will protect you from the elements.

With a 4000mm rating, this tent has some serious water protection for a tent of its category. The Doors have No-see-um mesh, so you will also get plenty of ventilation inside your space. An excellent choice for outdoorsy newbies, the Spartan 3P is an easy to pitch well-priced hiking and backpacking tent.

Looks great

We have an EPE Arcadia tent which we purchased for a canoe trip and found it incredibly reliable in bad weather. Our new spartan was purchased for our children to take on scout camps. Based our Arcadia we believed it would be reliable and great value for money. So far we are very impressed. Now thinking about a spartan 2 person for the children's use when hiking with scouts.

Great tent for amateur or pro campers

I had been planning a beach camp on top of a sand dune. Usually i go rough and use a hammock and fly, but since there were no trees i needed a compact tent for myself, my mate and our gear. I stubbled across this tent in Aussie Disposals and decide to look for it cheaper online (How i found it on snowy's). Very easy to use on the sand. Nice and roomy for our gear. Held up will with the rain and the animals. We set it up in no time. Very easy to set up in the dark even. And its very light which saves your back in the end. Also, its great if you want to steath camp. From a distance you couldn't tell the difference between a shrub and the EPE Spartan 3. 100% would recommend

great tent for beginners to get into camping!

I have been shopping around for tents for a month (both offline and online). it was a toss up between several tents, but I finally decided on the Explore Planet Earth Spartan 3. admittedly, cost did play a big factor in the decision process, as this would be an introductory hiking tent for my wife and I. while I would have loved to splurge on a more expensive tent, but this tent ticks all the boxes for now. it was simple enough to set up (so much so that my first set up was done in the morning, before I had any coffee in my system!). it's very spacious and roomy. it was a hot day when I started setting up the tent, yet the ability to open both doors, plus the ventilation peaks at the top of the tent aided in ventilation. at night, however, the weather decided to do a 180 degree change and started pouring heavily, while the winds were strong enough to blow the cover off my outdoor furniture set. yet, this tent stood the test, and it was a comfortable sleep inside the tent that night. I did ensure that the guy ropes were taut, which was made easy with the reflective material the guy lines had woven into them. my wife and I are definitely looking forward to using this tent more often!

Gear loft1 answer

Is there an extra fitting or is it built in?

- SYDNEY (1 week ago)

G'day Clint,

I've just double checked this with the supplier to be sure, and unfortunately, this tent does not come with a gear loft - it's actually just a door storage pocket which is news to us.

I'm so sorry for the confusion there Clint, I've double checked the rest of the features, so it should be accurate now.

G'day Barb,

Good news! We currently have a handful of the EPE Spartan 3 Hiking Tents in our Queensland store. We'd be able to send one out from there for you right away if you popped an order in.

Suitable for Motorcycle tour?1 answer

Just wondering on the suitability for a motorcycle tour. Looking for a 3 person tent with a good carry bag and fairly quick setup/take down time. Thanks

- 3198(1 month ago)

G'day Tim,

As previously mentioned, my bike touring knowledge is limited, but I do still believe that this tent will be suitable. It's a simple set up and pack down lightweight tent that is no slower than other similar tents and the quality is very durable for the price you pay.

How will the bag hold up on a motorbike?1 answer

After a tent for the bike that can take 2 people and gear comfortably. Wondering how the bag will hold up strapped over the bike pillion rather than packed away?

- Seaford(1 month ago)

G'day Tim,

Great question. I'm honestly not sure. The bag is made from what appears to be a relatively durable polyester so I'd say you'd be okay for some time, but my bike touring knowledge of the demands and stress to be placed on a bag is limited.

Attaching the poles1 answer

How do the poles attach to the tent - do you need to push them through a sleeve, or does the tent have hooks/clips that attach to the poles? Do you have a photo without the fly?

- Scarborough(3 months ago)

G'day Ryan,

The poles attach to the inner of the Explore Planet Earth Spartan 3 inner tent with clips.

Does this have material on doors 1 answer

Or are they mesh only

- Howard(6 months ago)

I pulled one out of the box to check for you, Pat.

I assume you are referring to the inner doors, which are single layer mesh. They are not double doors with mesh and solid panels. Hope this helps.
