Overhang on Small SUVs1 answer

Hi there! I'm very interested in this tent but concerned it will fit terribly on my Kona 2024. From my measurements, even if I sacrifice some trunk access, there will be significant overhang at the front. I was wondering what your thoughts are on its suitability on small SUVs like my Kona and if 20cm of overhang is acceptable at the front. Thank you!

G'day James,

An overhang isnt ideal - it becomes a massive wind trap, and puts alot of stress on the mounting brackets with the tent being forced up constantly whilst driving.
If you have to have overhang, its better to be off the rear - the first priority would be to mount the roof top tent as central over the roof racks as possible.
Just regularly check the mounting points to make sure everything is still secure, and you should be fine.

Self inflating mattress1 answer

Hi, Do you think one of the self inflating double mattresses (e.g. Sea to Summti, Exped etc.) would fit inside this? Thanks

G'day Matt,

Typical single mats are between 70 and 80 cm wide, while double mats are a bit over 130 cm wide. As this rooftop tent has an internal sleeping area 122 cm wide, most 'standard' double mats wouldn't fit in it, width-wise. Inspired Overland does make a self-inflating sleeping mat specifically designed for their rooftop tents, which is 117 cm wide. It wouldn't quite be as large as a double, but it would definitely be bigger than a single, and would fill out your tent pretty well.
