The Pegasus chair from Explore Planet Earth may look dinky, but despite its feather light construction, it can support the weight of chairs twice its size. Perfect for motorcycle tourers, or gram counting hikers, the Pegasus will have you comfortable whether you’re on the trail or side of the road.

This chair has a mesh panel down the middle of the seat which’ll keep the airflow going, and your derriere comfortable. The light aluminium frame is where this chair really shines, as that’s what will keep your load very light.

Do yourself a favour and get yourself a Pegasus, it’s worth the minimal weight it adds to your load, and your back will thank you for it later.

  • Mesh and solid seat
  • Lightweight frame that packs down small
  • Perfect for hiking or motorcycle touring
  • Carry bag included

Light, compact and comfortable

I bought a pair of these for our car camping holidays. We recently camped at a holiday park and tested them out on the grassed site. The chairs worked well to lounge in for my husband and I. My husband would have preferred the back of the chair to be taller but found it comfortable enough. It was a perfect fit for me but I’m small and short.

There were two other down sides to the chairs. Our two preschool children can’t use the chairs as they kept tipping the chair forward. Another down side is that when we sit in the chairs and lean forward to eat at the table, the front legs jam into this position. To use the chairs in its intended position, we had to pull the jammed front legs out of the holes and reinsert them. Easy fix but it limits how you can use the chairs.

But we still love the chairs. They’re ultralight and easily folds back into the bags. We have them set up in the house at the moment to use around the rumpus when watching the kids or extra seating wherever it is needed.

Not so good

I bought a pair of these for the convenience of having them in the car ready for when needed. They probably work fine for camping, but are useless on hard surfaces - the legs fall out of their sockets when there isn't a soft ground surface for them to dig into.

G'day John,

Thanks for letting us know... sitting on hard surfaces would be something I'd expect when buying any type of camp chair so maybe something might be a bit skewiff? If you have a second, could you please send us an email (service@snowys.com.au) - we'd like to know more and hopefully fix the problem. Laine

A bit disappointed

Reviews were good and it suits my wife pretty well but I find that the upper corners dig into the sides of my back, making it uncomfortable. I do not recommend it for tall people

Thanks for sharing your review Jan - although I'm sorry to hear you're not loving your new chair... but your feedback will be super helpful for tall campers & hikers looking for a new chair. Laine

Great for travelling light

Takes 2 minutes to put together or take apart. Fits back nicely in its carry bag without having to wrestle it. Perfect for me (I'm short and size 8) but not sure a really tall guy or larger framed person would fit comfortably because it sits close to the ground. But most light weight chairs do. Used it on 2 camp trips to date. Over all very good product so far.

light, compact and quality

Great hiking chair using for adventure motorcycling. Not cheapest chair but you get what you pay for. Expect it will last a long time due to the high quality

Is this chair suitable for music festivals ie will not obstruct view from those behind1 answer

height of seat from ground

G'day Linley,

You should be alright at a festival with one of the EPE Pegasus Hiking Chairs. I've certainly sold them to people for events like Womad before and not had any returns or issues, but I'd think this is about as tall as you'd be able to get away with.

Is this chair suitable for tall people1 answer

Im 6ft 4 and wanted to know if this chair is tall enough

- Kalkite(6 months ago)

G'day Graham,

Due to your height, I would say that this chair is going to be on the small side. We have staff here that over 6ft tall and they find it is ok to sit in the Pegasus as long as you stretch your legs out to rest.

This chair is rather low to the ground, so getting in and out of the chair won’t be smooth for your size. As the Pegasus hiking Chair is so lightweight and compact, there is a compromise on height, unfortunately.
