Yum! Back Country Cottage Pie is a homemade mix of savoury mince and warm vegetables capped off with a potato topping.
This is by far my favourite Back Country meal. I was worried the mash would taste like the usual instant unpalatable stuff, but this was sensational!!
This has to be my favourite Back Country meal. It tastes just like cottage pie. If I am extra hungry, I will add a little freeze dried rice to the mince to bulk it up and some Edgell's potato flakes to the existing potato. Makes for a very filling meal. Sprinkle some Parmesan cheese on it and you have the perfect meal for cold nights hiking on the Central Plateau in Tasmania :)
This meal takes a little more effort to prepare than other Back Country packs but the taste is excellent. Great meal for a cool/cold night.
This meal definately tasted of cottage pie. It came with mashed potato too. I think we needed to leave it cooking another five mins so cook for 15mins the peas were still hard. Hint put a towel over the pot with the lid on whilst it's brewing in the hot water. We were worried it was going to go cold. If we did this then it may not have.
It's definitely Cottage Pie. Satisfying and fulfilling. Great flavours.
We have tried a few of the Back Country meals on our hiking trips, This wasn't our absolute favourite but we did enjoy it.
Another favourite. I like to add extra veges.
It tastes as you would expect cottage pie to taste and portion size was satisfying. I would buy this one again for convenience and light weight properties.
