new tip for Wanderfreund Makalu Walking Pole 1 answer
I have Wanderfreund Makalu Walking Pole with a carbide tip its a few years old now . I now need a walking stick on a daily basis now house and city only no trails or bush do you have correct tip and how to fit instructions
Mark Whitcombe - riverside launceston(6 years ago)
Sure do Mark, there's a couple of replacement tips for which you may only need one or both. If you need to replace the carbide tip then you need these guys which only come as a pack of two - https://www.snowys.com.au/universal-carbide-flextips. You can also use rubber tips which fit over the end of the carbide tips i.e. you need the carbide tip to be able to use the rubber tip. These rubber tips make use around the city and house a little less noisy, you can see them here - https://www.snowys.com.au/rubber-walking-tip-pair.
As for removing them, the rubber tips are easily attached and removed by simply pushing/pulling on and off. The carbide tips can be harder to remove, especially if you have tips that have been on your poles for some time. You need to use a spanner or something that you can tap them off with. There are a number of 'how to' videos on YouTube that will make more sense than me trying to describe it here.
Also, if/when you place the new carbide tip on your walking pole, make sure you give it a firm tap so it doesn't come off whilst out and about, it can be a good idea to add more weight than normal to the pole on your first use with new tips to ensure they are locked firmly in place.

G'day Wayne,
I can see the Antishock model you're referring to on the Leki website, but I've had a scan through the Australian Leki pricelist and the only Wanderfruend pole on there is the one we already stock. So sorry mate, but it sounds like we can't get our hands on these in Australia.
