Not to be negative Nancy’s over here, but there is always a chance that a hike can go wrong – which is why you need to be prepared for what the elements might throw at you. You’re going to need things like a compass, multi-tool, first aid supplies and an emergency blanket for warmth – like this one from Elemental.

An emergency blanket will reflect the heat back to your body keeping your warm in rough conditions, and is also useful for creating a signal in the event of a rescue. Made from Aluminised cik-stretch polyester, this blanket will stay flexible even in freezing conditions so it’s going to perform well even under harsh conditions.

This blanket is the perfect size to slip into your pocket or with the rest of your emergency stash – so make sure you’re not without it for your first aid kit, or emergency outdoor stash.

Added extra

We used this as an added extra between the floor and mattress of a double swag in sub zero temps and I reckon it helped. We were never cold and had no condensation issues. We also had sub zero sleeping bags. We left it in place and rolled up each day with the swag and it didn't tear and didn't ad bulk or weight. Also had a spare one to use outside if needed.
