Can you please confirm the Canvas specs? 2 answers

your description says 340gsm but the Oztrail website says 230 gsm

- Kincumber(1 week ago)

Howdy Dan,

I will need to confirm this with the manufacturer on Monday, as that is quite a difference! Thank you very much for bringing that to our attention and we will be back in touch very shortly with an answer for you.

- Snowys(1 week ago)

Hi Dan,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, according to Oztrail the Tourer 9 is made from 230 gsm Ripstop Canvas so I will make sure to have that update online to avoid further confusion.

The window1 answers

Hi, the picture shown on your web site, the windows of the OZtrail Tourer 9 tent are a one whole mesh window, but the model shown on youtube has a window split into two pieces of mesh vertically. Could you please advise which type of windows it is for the one you are selling please, before I can place an order? Thanks .

- Westmead(3 weeks ago)

Hi Wey. Great question,

Yes our video is a little out of date there. The tent no longer has that strip down the centre of the mesh window, now just featuring a full mesh window. I will see if we can get an updated video of this tent and have that posted there instead. Thanks heaps for letting us know! Cheers!

is the centre pole easy to raise ?1 answers

Can the centre pole of the tent be raised easily by a 'not so young' femaile ?

- Murray Bridge(1 month ago)

Howdy Jill,

The Tourer 9 is an easy to erect tent that should go up fairly quickly. The centre pole allows you to push up the middle of the tent quickly and should be easy enough for people of any age group. The estimated weight of the centre would be around 10kgs, so not too heavy really. As

As always though, it is alway handy to have that second person giving you a hand but this tent can be put up by one person with relative ease. Just make sure that the tent is fully pegged out around the edge first, and the windows open to allow for air to enter freely as you push that middle section up. Happy Camping!

Where is this tent made?1 answers

- Adelaide(6 months ago)

G’day Tony, Oztrail manufacture some of their products in Bangladesh, and the rest in China depending on what it is. I’ve just had a look at the box for you, and the Tourer 9 tent is made in China.

Would two Oztent King Goanna Stretchers fit into this tent?1 answers

- CHELTENHAM, VIC(8 months ago)
Hi Scott, We actually tried out a small range of stretchers in this tent, to check which ones would work for you. The King Goanna Stretcher touches the sides of the walls due to its height and the inwards slope of the tent walls. The Gecko Stretcher also doesn't quite cut the mustard, but the plain Goanna Stretcher is just within reason and allows just enough room in the middle to get out of the tent. The Kookaburra Standard Cross Leg Stretcher also fits. Hope this has helped!

Carry bag1 answers

Does the carry bag have a zip or straps or some other way to close it once the tent is folded up in it?

- WANTIRNA SOUTH, VIC(10 months ago)
The Tourer 9 does come with a carry bag Kirsten. It's a large square bag that remains open on one side and features carry handles. It is designed to for the tent once the top section is assembled. It is easiest to keep this top section assembled when transporting the tent.

Side bars1 answers

Can you tell me how much the side bar is please I only have the centre pole

- Daceyville(1 year ago)
You need the Side Pole Kit Susan, and you can see all the details for this on our website, just search for product code 32855. Using this kit removes the need for the centre pole.

What is the "rollup weather flap" on windows? Does that mean it is clear plastic to let in natural light, but not rain? Are the windows gussetted for ventilation during bad weather?

- WITHERS, WA(1 year ago)
G'day David, Great question, the rollup flaps have been designed to increase the water resistance of the tent. They're made of cotton canvas, which unfortunately is not see-through, nor do they let in natural light. When down, they lay flat which doesn't allow for much ventilation but you'll be well protected from the elements - especially rain.
- Snowys(1 year ago)

With the side windows in the rain you can zip them down 50% and then peg out the bottom of the flag therefore giving some ventilation and visibility. For ventilation overnight I use the door instead as the intenal skin can be opened from the top for as much of an opening as you want and if you peg out the external flap it is covered from rain. I have had a tourer for 6 or 7 years, great tent, robust and even more roomy when you use the side pole kit. Nice and dark in the morning as the canxas is thick and blocks the light and in the summer the full length windows and door mean 4 way ventilation to the floor

Carry bag1 answers

Thanks for your comprehensive and helpful answer to my previous question but if I do purchase a tourer 9, does it come with a sturdy bag to fit the 800x800x10 pack up size, with the roof square poles in place?

- BUNBURY, WA(1 year ago)
No problems David. The Tourer 9 only comes with one carry bag to facilitate the tent in it's 'fast pitch' form. I don't think anyone would bother taking the top 'square' pole section out each time they packed it away and it is only packed this way for shipping to the consumer.
- Snowys(1 year ago)

Carry bag1 answers

Notice packed size stated as 80x80x10, which is obviously with the square roof frame still in place. Does purchase include a solid carry bag for those dimensions? Hope so, because once the roof frame has been put in place would not want to remove each day & negate quickest erection. I'm wanting quick&easy tent for my wife & I, principally for traveling North WA, and am torn between Tourer 9 or Oztent JV Signature Tent (we have self inflating mats each). Can you help my dilemma?

- BUNBURY, WA(1 year ago)
You're right David, the packed size of 80 x 80 x 10 is with the roof frame assembled, this allows for quick pitching by simply inserting the centre pole or side pole kit. The side pole kit would have to be packed separately as the poles will be too long to fit in the bag. Your choice between the Tourer 9 or Oztent JV is hard to help with, the Tourer offers simplistic durability whereas the Oztent JV provides more living space, a choice of two rooms and a longer set up time to put all the side walls and floor together also (still quick to pitch though). Packed size may be a good consideration, the Tourer is square in it's quick pitch form, but the JV Tent is a long thin package. I would recommend that if you want living space then the Oztent JV may be the best choice.

How many ropes need to be attached to tent2 answers

- MEDOWIE, NSW(1 year ago)
This tent comes with guy ropes included for the four corners and two for the awning. The corner ropes are not needed for the tent to be erected however they would need to be pitched out in windy conditions.

Thanks for the tip JF, sounds like you and the Tourer 9 have been on plenty of adventures together!

Does Oztrail Tourer 9 tent come with a fly (idea - waterproof in heavy rain)1 answers

- Tuart Hill(2 years ago)
Hi Sophie, the Oztrail Tourer 9 is made of a heavy duty poly-cotton canvas making it a very waterproof tent without the need for a fly. What you will find is that during heavy rain condensation will build up inside, and given the limited head space you may get wet shoulders when standing. It is a super durable tent for touring, and will keep the water out in a heavy downpour, but if you plan on spending endless nights in wet environments, you may want to consider a dual skin tent.
