Hi. Is it possible to attach this https://www.snowys.com.au/butane-cartridge-adaptor to the burner? Also can this burner run the small Coleman green tanks, if so what attachment is used? Thanks
Marcus - Freshwater, NSW(3 years ago)
G'day Marcus,
Its a no to both of the above, sorry! This burner requires a connection to a refillable style LPG gas canister only. It's not compatible with other types of propane or fuel mixes, or other types of gas cannisters.

Valve 1 answer
Do I have to purchase the valve separately and what type please.
Iva - Dalyellup(4 years ago)
G'day Iva,
The stove attaches directly to an LPG cylinder with 3/8" BSP thread, which is what you'll find on bottles 1, 2, 3 & 4kg in size. There are no further attachments required to use the stove.

Will the gas bottle explode?1 answer
Will the gas bottle get hot from this and can it explode from having the flame so close to the gas bottle?
Kathryn - Albanvale(4 years ago)
G'day Kathryn,
We are very fortunate in Australia to have rigorous testing and appliance standards through the Australian Gas Association. If an item is available for sale in Australia you can be confident that it has met these safety requirements. The Companion Single Burner Manual Stove is a popular compact option and as far as we are aware customers have had no issues from a safety perspective. Hop that helps!

Horizontal port1 answer
My 9kg gas bottle has the gas coming out sideways not straight up as is pictured in the photos, so I don't see how this would work on mine? Would I need an adapter? I thought all/most gas bottles had the exit facing sideways.
Adam - Lake Heights (4 years ago)
G'day Adam,
Your 9kg gas bottle more than likely has a POL fitting so you would need a POL to 3/8" adapter to be able to attach the stove to your gas bottle.

Does this fit a gasmate 2kg gas cylinder?1 answer
Does the fitting allow you to attach the single burner to a Gasmate 2kg gas cylinder. And will it be stable?
Sue - Galston(5 years ago)
G'day Sue,
Yes the Companion Single Burner Manual Stove will attach directly to the top of a Gasmat 2kg cylinder with a 3/8" BSP thread. The fitting itself gives the unit its stability, and they are quite stable as long as your pot is around the size of the burner.

Advice on storing 1 answer
Do peeps generally stow this permanently screwed to the bottle? In the cabin of 4WD or on the roof? will it handle the weather or a sturdy canvas hood required ?
Mike - Perth(6 years ago)
G'day Mike,
I'd probably be cautious when transporting a stove like this and I'd detach it from the gas bottle. The box it comes packed in, whilst it won't last forever, is a great way to transport these with just a bit of protection. I'd just keep it in the car if possible as it's just a chrome plated and not stainless steel. Travelling with it on the roof rack might encourage rust to develop if it's constantly out in the weather.

hotplate1 answer
hi. can you put a cast plate on top of this for a bbq? will it get too for the cylinder?
dave - 5013(7 years ago)
G'day Dave,
This is a bit of a tough one, to be honest with you. Reading the warnings on gas bottles about keeping away from heat does make me a little worried about using a grill plate on one of these Primus Single Burner Manual Stoves. Having said that, I can't see it as being much different to a pot or pan being over the flame. Leaning on the side of caution, I wouldn't recommend that you use a grill plate but as is often the case with these sorts of things, I'd suggest using your own discretion.

Can a 100mm diameter pot sit directly on this?1 answer
Also have this question for the Companion equivalent product. Thanks
Alison - Melbourne(7 years ago)
G'day Alison,
I've just cracked out my tape measure and had a look at both stoves on display, and I'd say that a pot with a 10cm diameter would just fit on the Companion Single Burner, but it wouldn't be a good fit for the Primus Single Burner Stove.

Knob on side of single burner 1 answer
Hi Does this have a control on the actual stove top to increase the gas ....as most of them these days have it on the actual bottle which is very hard to control
Anna Leonard - Sunbury (8 years ago)
G'day Anna,
I've just had a look at the product, and I've found that the Primus Single Burner Manual Stove does not have a knob/control - you will only be able to control the flame on the gas bottle itself.Â

Can you use this with a large pot?1 answer
What is the largest size saucepan or stockpot that could be used with this stove? If the stability of the gas bottle is the limiting factor, I would consider a 4kg cylinder with the appropriate sized fitting.
El - Aroona(8 years ago)
Hi El,
There are no specifications on this item in regards to it's maximum load rating. As the stove is 225mm in diameter itself, I would recommend 24cm or smaller frypans be used. In terms of pots I'd recommend a standard pot size of 20cm or under be used. These are just recommendations given on the stability of the stove being attached to the gas bottle itself.
If you'd like to discuss which stove would be best for your use, give me or my team mates a buzz on 1300 914 007

I have a 4kg bottle with a horizontal outlet. do you sell a right angle fitting to make the outlet vertical?1 answer
danny - Brisbane(8 years ago)
We do Danny, it sounds like you have a POL outlet on your bottle, which means you need a POL to 3/8 BSP adaptor. You can see one of these by searching for product code 20609 on our website. This may not be the best solution though, the stove is likely to rotate on the horizontal axis, it would need to be done up nice and tight, and I wouldn't put anything too heavy on top. There isn't really a better solution for this, other than to but a different gas cylinder.

can you buy just the burner- stove top?1 answer
stefania aegisdottir - USA(9 years ago)
Hi Stefania, I am not sure if I understand your question, but I think you want to know if you can just buy the silver element in the picture without the gas bottle. The gas bottle (blue colour in the picture) does not come with the stove. The package includes everything that attaches above the tap (brass/gold colour) on the gas bottle. I hope this makes sense.
