Fantastic Mat

Bought this based on good reviews. Strong sturdy mat. Dirty mostly falls through, apart from larger bits of course. This helps keep the trailer a bit cleaner than before. Is a bit coarser than expected if sitting on the ground. Minor downside. Would need a blanket for a baby/crawler.

Mat Review

Fantastic, did everything as promised. Would like to see what happens when it rains but that rarely happens in Sunraysia.

Bset Annexe mat ever

Wonderful thing!

Excellent

We seem to mostly camp in sand, dust or dirt and this mat makes a huge difference. We use it in addition to our tent and not to put the tent on - just to give us some more space and to keep the dust down. Works well.

Heavy

Great mat!

Easy to unfold and install, easy to sweep clean, soft under foot, smaller particles pass through the weave, kind to grassed camp sites. Definitely recommend.

Worked a treat!

Just used this for the last 4 weeks in Kimberley red dust and it kept the camp area clean. Dust did not come back up. Other campers in our group will be swapping to this mat after seeing. Thanks

Good quality mat, bit expensive and heavy

This is a decent ground covering mat. I have been using this for last 1-2 years for camping under gazebo to stop the dirt. Down side would be its bulky size to carry and the price (not cheap).

This works

Have had the mat for about 12 months. Used around Vic and the Kimberley under tent and swag. Used in sun and rain. Keeps the mud and water at bay and protects from sharp rocks, spinifex and twigs. Best ground cover I've used. Recommended.

Do you have peg these mats?1 answer

Hi, do these mats need tension to be effective? Ie can you just lay them out or should they be pegged?

- 2107(7 months ago)

G'day Laura,

I'm so sorry for the delay in answering your question, I've just looked into this and you don't need to tension the C-Gear Multimat in order for it to be effective (i.e. pegging it out). However, it will be the most effective when laid out flat - so that's something to keep in mind.

C-Gear Multi Camp Mat for Oztrail Ultimate All Weather Queen Stretcher1 answer

Hi there, I was just wondering if the fly sheet of the Oztrail Ultimate All Weather Queen Stretcher would be able to be pegged out properly over the edges of the C-Gear 2.4 x 1.8 m Multi Camp Mat without poking holes into it? Cheers

- Kinross(8 months ago)

G'day Andrew,

I've just crunched the numbers for you and you should have no issues at all with using the 2.4 x 1.8m C-Gear Multi Camp Mat underneath the Oztrail Ultimate All Weather Stretcher without piercing it at all with the pegs.

Does it come with a carry bag?2 answers

Does it come with a carry bag?

- Exeter(11 months ago)

G'day Eddy,

Unfortunately, the C-Gear Multi Camp Mat doesn't come with a carry bag but I'm sure you'll be able to find a canvas carry bag to suit here.

- Snowys(11 months ago)

G'day Peter,

My bad! You're 100% correct, they do have a carry bag. It's made of the same mesh as the groundsheet, hence my confusion. Just to confirm, they do indeed have a carry bag.

Packed dimensions seem quite large1 answer

Is there any reason why this product couldn't be folded and rolled and stored in the same way as the Black Wolf Turbo 240 groundsheet? (Looking for something similar to the Turbo version for the Turbo's extanda awning and need it to pack down small.)

- Melbourne(12 months ago)

G'day Jude,

Great question. There's no reason why you can't roll or fold it however you want to make it work for you.

What size CGear Mat1 answer

If annexe is 5.2m for example, would you extend longer out of the annexe as some sites you're unable to peg down due to slab. If I purchased a longer one would the water seep through into Annexe when raining?

- Brisbane(1 year ago)

G'day Caroline,

It is really difficult to advise you on which size CGear mat to buy, it really requires you determining the size that best fits your specific application. As for the water ingress, the mat will not wick water towards the centre, so your annexe area should stay nice and dry.

What size CG Gear Multimat to Buy?1 answer

Have Jayco Silverline 21.65ft slide out caravan. What size CG Gear Multimat should I purchase?

- West Lakes SA(1 year ago)

Hi Karen,

I guess if you want to park your caravan on top of the mat and have a bit of overhang you could choose the 2.4x7.5m but if you want it to include a picnic area under an awning, perhaps the larger size of 3.05x3.05m might be best.

Feel free to give us a call to discuss if you need. Cheers!

Multi/Sand Mats1 answer

Are the multi mats the same as the quicksand sand mats? I've seen other brands carry on about sand going through the mats but to tell you the truth it basically just sits on the top. Yes after heaps of brushing and shaking it goes through but it is easier to lift, shake it off and put the mat down again.

- Vic(1 year ago)

G'day Tony,

I can see why you'd be a little bit sceptical, but quite honestly, this product does exactly what it says it's supposed to do - dirt and sand will fall straight through this mat. We've had a lot of positive feedback from other customers, so it's a product that we really stand by.

C-Gear have made a pretty good video which you can check out here which shows their Multi Camp Mat in action, which might be helpful for you. Failing that there are heaps of user generated reviews and videos out there (not made by C-Gear) which show how this product work as well.

Multi Camp Mat for Outdoor Connection Brampton Tent1 answer

Hi, which size mat is more suited for the Brampton Tent, please.

- Melton(3 years ago)
None of these will be an exact fit sorry Catherine. With the Brampton measuring 6.0 metres in length and 2.8 metres in width, I would recommend either the 2.4 x 7.5 metre mat which will be narrow on the sides but give you coverage under the end awning, or two of the 3.05 x 3.05 m mats which will give you coverage length-ways, nothing under the end awning but a little extra on the sides.

can it be used for under a tent?2 answers

Hi, your description says that this can be used as a ground sheet. Does this mean it can be used under a tent like a tarp? Or would a tarp be better?

Sure can Jane, there are no defining parameters around what should and shouldn't be used under a tent, as long as it gives the tent floor some protection then it's doing its job. That being said, the C-Gear mats are an expensive way to do this, you get the most out of these by laying them as a floor in the living space of your campsite so they provide a relatively dirt free surface to relax on. A basic tarp is quite a cheap way of providing protection for your tent floor, and a combination of one of these as well as a C-Gear multi-mat would be a good solution.
- Snowys(3 years ago)

G'day Jane,

The C-Gear mat should be able to help with smaller prickles and burrs however we're not too sure how they would go with bigger 3 corner jacks etc. Theoretically you should be ok in most conditions though as the mats have the Dual Layer Woven design.

- Snowys(3 months ago)

Why are your measurements around the other way - see details. 1 answer

I am wanting to purchase a CGear mat for our caravan. We want the 5.2mtr x 2.4mtr for our caravan annexe. Other suppliers have theirs listed as 5.2m long x 2.4m wide whereas yours are listed as 2.4m long x 5.2m wide. What's the difference? Thanks Regards Roger

- RENMARK, SA(3 years ago)
There is no difference Roger, it's just the way in which the data was entered, I'll edit our dimensions to avoid further confusion.

This C-Gear multi mat photo looks different to other sellers which has reinforced edge with brass eyelets.1 answer

Hi, The photo of C-Gear multi mat on your website looks different to the one from other sellers which has reinforced edges with brass eyelets. Are they the same product or is this old version of it? Thanks, Ben

- BAYSWATER NORTH, VIC(3 years ago)
You're right Ben, he images we have must be old, thanks for the pickup. Our stock is current and has reinforced edges with 'D' eyelets all round. Sorry for the confusion, I'll update our images asap.

Are all C Gear mats reversible? ie Green one side, grey the other?3 answers

- KERSBROOK, SA(4 years ago)
Hi Robert, they are all the same material, and can be used either way up. The only difference is the size.
- Snowys(4 years ago)

Thanks for that Ben. Unfortunately, you have not answered my question. Are all your Cgear mats green on one side and grey on the other? The reason I ask is that in the past I have had one that was green on both sides and I want to make sure that you do not supply me with one of those!

- Kersbrook(4 years ago)
Sorry Robert, I have done a spot check on our stock, and it appears that all our CGear mats are green on one side and grey on the other, I can't remember them being different. Feel free to give us a call once your order is placed and we can double check for you before your mat is dispatched.
