How does it hold in windy weather
G'day James,
This would hold up well in windy weather, the table is heavy enough to keep sturdy and the lid locks into place. You could add some sandbags or similar to the legs to help keep it in place if the wind picks up.
Hi, would the mesh top accommodate a Coleman Even Temp stove?
G'day Steve,
The Coleman Eventemp Stove should sit on there snug. The mesh bench is about 65cm wide x 50cm deep, the Stove is about 64cm x 48cm so will take up pretty much all of the space!
Is the wire grid shelves and baskets stainless steel? How does this go being left in the rain?
G'day David,
We don't have any info from the manufacturer other than 'steel', sorry David, so we cant confirm what type.
Being a camp kitchen set up with a gas/liquid fuel stove and a range of other food and kitchen-based items, you'd ideally be setting up undercover or out of the rain if bad weather is expected. If your kitchen's set up out in the weather, you'll likely have more to worry about than just a spot of rust on the stove mesh shelf.
Other than that if you're having some frosty mornings and the rack is getting abit wet, just make sure its fully dried off before packing away, and you shouldn't have too many issues.
hi - are there any other sinks that fit, either for eventual replacement or because this one doesn't appear to have a plug... thanks
G'day Polly,
None that we sell currently, the sink space allocation is actually quite large - 40.5 x 28.5cm.
I'm sure you would be able to pick up a suitable replacement tub, potentially from somewhere like a local hardware or homewares type store.
How much weight does the section next to the white tub hold. Would it hold a 20 Liter water container?
G'day Veronica,
Darche don't provide a weight rating for the stowaway benchtop I'm sorry.
The kitchen bench space is ultimately designed from preparing and serving food, so I'm not sure how a big 20kg full jerry can or similar would go. I'm sure it would be ok for a short period of time, but I'd say there are better alternatives if you are wanting a permanent solution.
Does the kitchen have telescopic legs for uneven ground
G'day David,
No, it doesn't. If you check out our product review video with set up & pack away, you'll be able to get a better idea of how the legs work.
Can you please tell me the storage size under the main bench area. Looking for a suitable dry food storage box to sit on the rack on the low level setting. Thanks for your help
G'day Jon,
We run through this at around the 1:30min mark on the Features video with Ben, giving you a comprehensive run over all the dimensions.
I'd say you'd be good with a box around 50cm high from the rack on the lowest setting.
Check out the video for more info.
Will this hold the companion double burner wok cooker on the side table
G'day Corey,
It won't I'm afraid. The side wire bench is 65cm wide, whilst the double wok cooker is 74cm wide.
You might get away with the overhang, but it's definitely not something we'd recommend.
Can the plastic sink be removed?
G'day Grace,
Yes, the sink is removable, be sure to checkout the features video as Ben goes through all of the great features of the Stowaway Camp Kitchen.
What is the weight capacity on the side table? Needing it to hold 20kg's.
G'day Paul,
Darche doesn't specify a maximum weight for the side table, but it will comfortably support a stove, cast iron camp oven and kettle, so while it should be able to support 20kg if the weight is well spread, we're not sure it would support that weight for a longer period of time without causing stress on the steel grid mesh.
