This fan ticks all my boxes.

As a caravanner, the fan in question is the right size, the right weight, & is quiet as a mouse. I'm most impressed although having several other Coleman appliances that date back 20 yrs, it's not surprising!

Batteries and DC don't work

I charged up the fan completely before use, used it off battery power once and now it says the batteries are charging but doesn't run off battery power anymore, also doesn't run off DC, massively disappointed and don't have time to return to shop

G'day Tessa,

I'm sorry that your new fan is acting up a bit... it sounds as though it'll be covered under warranty. If you give us a go, we'll make the return process as quick and easy for you. All you need to do is give us a call (1300 914 007) so we can get the ball rolling. Laine :)

Mostly excellent

The only problem was that the battery compartment cover has a tendency to easily come off, so I use tape to keep it in place. Otherwise no complaints

Very Handy!

I love this product - I took it camping last weekend and my family were very envious of my fan!! I also have been using it at home, i love how much force there is for a portable fan - it is great when doing the dishes or applying make up on a hot day!! The lights are also a bonus.
Thanks again Snowys, love your work!!

More photos if possible. 1 answer

A photo side on would be good.

- Coral Cove(2 months ago)

G'day Mike,

I can't find any side images of the Coleman Rechargable Fan from Coleman, however, can you shoot me an email at service@snowys.com.au with attention to Ben and I'll snap a photo of our display stock and email it through to you?

Can you run it directly from a 12v socket 1 answer

Does this run straight from a 12v and or 240v supply. As in it doesn't have to charge the battery. I just want a fan that hooks into the 12v socket or can be used in the 240v of a motorhome. I don't really need the battery to be charged.

- Coral Cove(2 months ago)

G'day Mike,

If you plug the Coleman Rechargeable Fans in whilst the switch is set to 'DC', the fan will cut out and the battery will charge. However... if you flick the switch to 'AC' whilst the unit is plugged into a power source, the fan will run and the charge indicator will show. This will then give you the added back up ability to run off the battery if ever required.

AC or DC for recharging?1 answer

The instruction manual says to plug into 240V power and move the front switch to DC to recharge. Is that really necessary? The red charging light comes on as soon as it's plugged in anyway (no matter whether set to AC or DC on the front of the unit). Does it also recharge when plugged into a 12V power source? I would expect so because again, the red charging light comes on...the manual is not very clear on this!?

- Cornubia(7 months ago)

Hi Greg,

The reason you switch to DC when connected to 240V to recharge is so that the fan doesn’t run when it’s charging if that makes sense – so I would follow what the instructions say regarding that.

You can charge this unit somewhat with a 12V source, but it will be a slow trickle charge so you’re not going to be able to get a full charge on it without draining your car battery, so we would recommend giving it a full charge on 240V source as per the manual.

How do you make the fan oscillate?1 answer

I didn't know you can make it oscillate til I read the questions and answers. There are no instructions in the pamphlet. Love the fan though........Nice and quiet and blows a lot of air for its size 😀

- Woorinen Sth(7 months ago)

Hi Annette,

I've had a look at the instructions and you're right that bit of info isn't in there, but it's feedback that I'd be happy to pass onto Coleman for you though.

It's good to hear that you're enjoying your rechargeable fan Annette - you've got to have a cool breeze going when the weather is warm!

Power1 answer

Hi do you know how much power, amps etc it will use if plugged straight in 12v . I don't to flatten the battery of my camper. Thanks

- THE BASIN, VIC(11 months ago)

G’day Geoff, we don’t have any detail on the power draw from the charging cycle, but this fan would use a very low amount. If your battery is in good condition you should be able to run this fan with no issue. It would be very unlikely that it would flatten the battery of your camper if used correctly.

charging1 answer

hi plugged in charger red led flashed then went off do not know if unit is charging

- DUNBOGAN, NSW(12 months ago)

G’day Mike, I’ve just had a chat with Coleman and they've told me that the light can play up a bit at times. They suggested to leave it in for a good 24 hours to fully charge it - so give this a try and see how it goes. Also keep in mind that as this product uses a lead acid battery, so make sure you charge it before you store it.

- Snowys(12 months ago)

We tested the fan and it goes well but only seems to charge from 12v not run directly, is this correct procedure?1 answer

- SUNSHINE COAST MC, QLD(1 year ago)
Hi Sandy, if you've the 12V plugged in, the fan should run with the switch on the "AC". If it's unplugged, you'll then need to flick it over to "DC" to run the fan. I hope this helps, please give us a call if you're still having trouble.

What is the size please1 answer

- MACKAY, QLD(1 year ago)
This has an 8 inch diameter fan Liz, there is also a 12 inch version available on our website. If it is external dimensions you are seeking, you can see these for both models next to the "Dimensions" field under the product specifications. This model measures 36.5H x 29.5W x 12D cm. Let me know if this is not the information you are seeking.
- Snowys(1 year ago)

is there a charger with this fan, and what type of charger1 answer

- zillmere(1 year ago)
There is Nathan, both Coleman fans come with cables for charging from 12V DC (cigarette plug) and 240V AC sources.

How long will fan run on battery power?1 answer

Do you know the approximate run time for fan on either low or high setting using battery power only? Also, do you know if the oscillating feature is just the front grill turning or does the fan oscillate from left to right? Thank you!

- CARINDALE, QLD(1 year ago)
Hi Kylie, run time on battery is about 6 hours on low, and 4 hours on high. The front grill is the oscillating feature, directional fins within the grill direct air as it spins while the fan is running.
- Snowys(1 year ago)

can it be hung from the roof of a tent please?1 answer

also looking at purchasing the coleman 8 ppl gold tent and want to know if this tent has hooks etc to hang things in both sleeping quarters, thanks!

- nsw(1 year ago)
Hi CB, this fan is best used on the floor, it has no hanging hooks and would be too heavy to hand from a tent ceiling. The Coleman Gold Series tents all come with some form of hooks or loops to hang lightweight lanterns and fans from the ceiling.

Charge light colour1 answer

Does the LED indicator switch off once fully charged? How long should this take?

- ADELAIDE, SA(1 year ago)
Hi Ben, despite the manual indicating that the red LED light will switch off once the battery is fully charged, this is not the case. We are following this up with Coleman. There is no fault with the operation of the product, the only issue is knowing when the battery is fully charged. We recommend 20 - 24 hours of charge time for the Sealed Lead Acid battery in this unit.
