If you’re a value-chasing hiker that will only settle for the highest quality the MSR Elixir 3 Hiking Tent is the lightweight tent for you. It now comes with 35% larger vestibules and it’s roomy enough for three, or two and stacks of gear.
The included footprint enables setup with or without the fly or as an ultralight single skin shelter for fast and light adventures. Two large red vestibules make for easy setup and provide easy access to a roomy interior with space for three people.
A tent inner comprising of 40D ripstop nylon and 20D nylon micromesh not only provides exceptional ventilation but enables stargazing when the fly is removed on warm nights through a star-shaped mesh ceiling.
Easily pitched with colour coded poles, clips and webbing, the Elixir 3 Hiking Tent offers versatility and space and ventilation for any adventure in just about any climate.

I can see this product states that it is waterproof and has been treated with water repellent treatment but are the seams taped sealed?
G'day Shinead,
Unfortunately, we can't double-check this at the moment, as we don't have any new stock yet. As far as we know though, the 2019 models changed back to factory sealed seams, so we assume that the next batch arriving in Australia will be seam sealed.
I believe the elixir was updated in the last couple of years. Is your stock the most current?
G'day Gary,
I believe I responded to you a few days ago, but yes I can confirm that we are selling the most recent model with the red door panel.
I believe 2018 is the latest update? Is the model you are selling the latest? Thanks in advance.
G'day Gary,
Yes we're selling the most recent model, the Elixir was updated to include the red door panel back in 2018.
I am looking at a reasonable priced 3 season 3 person tent for use in the Victorian alpine autumn and spring. How do these two compare? Thank you. Kelvin
G'day Kelvin,
The Elixir 3 and Fortress 3P are both going to be good options for your Victorian Alpine adventures in the shoulder seasons. They've got some pretty similar features, with similar weight materials and pole so they're a fairly close comparison. The Elixir has a slight better waterhead rating on the floor, but they have the waterhead rating on the fly. Internally the Elixir 3 does have a little more mesh so will likely provide a little more ventilation, however, the Fortress 3P does have a dual-layer door so you can open it up for ventilation, or close it right up if you need it. You get a similar amount of space in both tents, the Elixir a little shorter and wider, and the Fortress a little narrower and longer, which might be useful to consider if you're on the tall side. Overall we think both tents are a great option, and it's will probably come to down to budget and personal preference.
Do you have Green
