You’re going to need more than just water, your keys and a phone when you’re covering more technical ground, which is where the Advanced Skin 12 Set from Salomon comes in.
The breathable design of the Advanced Skin 12 has a Sensifit system that wraps around your body and moves with you to for better stability, and the stretchy mesh used will also reduce the risk of chafing for better overall comfort. The two included soft bite valve flasks sit in the pockets located at the front of your chest, which reduces sloshing and enables you to move your neck down to drink without removing them. You can also route a separate 1.5L bladder in this pack, so you can keep both a water and energy supply handy at all times.
The Kangaroo pocket on the back of the pack is easily accessible on either side, so you can retrieve and stash your gear quickly and easily, and the zippered front pocket allows you to keep your phone or fuel close to hand.
With a poles holder, whistle, safety blanket, and two soft flasks included – this pack has the long-term comfort and features you’ll need for off the grid training where you need to be prepared for anything.

I bought this west recently and love it but can you purchase the speed straws for the 500ml flasks..? I have only seen them with a large cap which is too big and doesnt fit. I hope this makes sense.
G'day Nik,
I've managed to get in touch with the Australian Salomon supplier and they have two-speed straws left in the country, but unfortunately, they are the style with the larger cap. Might be worth trying to get them from an overseas website if you can.
Would just like to know if the black and red are the current models ? Thanks for the help
G'day Ryan,
All the packs listed here are clearance items from last season. You can see the new season model by clicking here.
I’ve checked against the Salomon website and there are four colours. The last red one is not on their website so maybe this is an older model? I’d just like to ensure I’m buying the latest model if I go for the first red one, the fiery red one. Thanks
G'day Tom,
The Fiery Red is the newer Advanced Skin 12 Set 3. We have a few sizes left of the old Matador Red/Black so if you're after the new colour just be sure to select that colour.
As the question asks, can this hold trekking poles ok? Ones that twist to collapse rather than fold. Can you stow on the go?
G'day Troy,
Unfortunately, the Salomon Advanced Skin 12 Set Running Pack doesn't have straps that you can put your walking poles into when you're not using them.
Are you sure? because here one of the pictures is actually showing a pair of poles, and on Salomon website, there is a video when the guy mention this and is also in the description of the product. https://www.salomon.com/en-au/shop-apac/product/adv-skin-12-set.html#618=9017
G'day Dani,
It looks like you're correct! I'll have to have a word with Ben about where he got the answer to this. It's not a really traditional method of attaching poles so he must have had a look at one and not noticed these straps.
Just wondering if this would be suitable for hiking? I've got an osprey Talon 22 which is a little too big for anything under 15km. Could this hold gear for lunch?
G'day Troy,
I've just had a bit of a look at the pockets of the Salomon Advanced Skin 12 Set Running Pack. You'd be able to fit a few bars and the like in it for lunch but I don't think the pocket holes would quite be big enough for a sandwich.
Can the vest be tried on instore?
G'day Kath,
Yes you can certainly try one on to get a feel for the size, but we would recommend calling ahead to the store (in your case it would be Keswick) to double check that we have the sizes that you're interested in.
Can the Salomon vest be used with any brand bladder?
G'day Alex,
Using a Salomon bladder would be the absolute best fit for a Salomon Advanced Skin 12 Set Running Pack but you can use other bladders in a pinch. If you wanted an absolute answer, feel free to let me know which bladder you're looking at and I can test it out for you.
Im a size 8 in ladies , would the XS/S size be suitable?
G'day Sharon,
To fit the Salomon Advanced Skin 12 Set Running Pack, you need to grab a torso measurement from just underneath your armpits. The XXS will fit a chest measurement of 69-86cm, XS/S will suit 86-98cm, M/L will suit 98-109cm & XL will suit 109-125cm. Hopefully, this will help you grab one that's the perfect fit.
Can I order either the set 5 or set 12 in the blue which you can buy else where? Thanks
G'day Danielle,
You most certainly can order a blue Salamon Advances Skin 12 or 5 Set Running Pack. Just give our customer service team a buzz on 1300 914 007 and they'll be able to arrange that over the phone for you.
I can see there are 2 x soft flask bottles included and the bladder insulation, but want to make sure the bladder is included too. Thanks.
G'day Rob,
Good pick up. The Salamon Advanced Skin 12 Set Running Pack doesn't include the bladder, no, just the insulation pouch for it.
Your photos so both the new and old model. thanks Nick
G'day Nick,
From our understanding, this is the current model.
I can't distinguish differences in the images, only colours. Can you please clarify and I'll happily look into this further.
Also, are there men’s and women’s?
G'day Marie,
The Salomon Advanced Skin 12 Set Running Pack is a unisex backpack. While the insulated cover is designed for a 1.5L bladder, there is nothing stopping you from removing that and then carrying a tight-fitting 2L bladder. The Salomon bladders can be found here.
Is there a chest size applicable to each?
G'day Paul,
There is no specific sizing guide for these. They correspond to normal S/M/L clothing sizing.
They are all adjustable to ensure you can achieve the perfect fit.
**Update 30/11/18 - we now provide a Torso measurement for each size so be sure to check this out when you select each different size in the
