An Australian made and very solid tripod for traditional cooking over the campfire, the Hilbilly tripod comes in two sizes with the larger size featuring extendable legs.

Let’s set some expectations though, Hillbilly make gear functional and unbreakable, but it’s not pretty. Made with heavy duty steel and touched up with paint to keep the rust at bay, rest assured that whilst this tripod may look a little rough around the edges, it’s one of the toughest you can buy.

  • Includes hanging chain
  • Extendable legs on the 1.6m tripod
  • Great way to cook over the campfire

Useful

Took a bit of getting used to setting it up. Had to make sure screws in legs very tight as I think they expand with the heat and loosen. Did the job ok once that sorted.

Very handy

Good quality little product, does what it is supposed to. As the description states it is not pretty; it has a fairly rough finish. That said it works and is cheap so would recommend! Note that it does not come with a carry bag.

Quality

Right from delivery it looked second hand, rust everywhere and seemed to be sub-standard with finish. Does the job but not convinced with quality.

G'day David,

You're right, they're not the prettiest piece of gear out of the package, are they? ...but boy, they're tough!

Hillbilly's key focus is toughness; heavy duty, long lasting products - aesthetics is a bit of an after-thought. If you're concerned about the level of quality, please don't hesitate to give us a call on 1300 914 007. Cheers, Laine :)

how much weight doea the 1.6m takes1 answer

MY neigbour is looking for a replacement tripod. he does goulash parties and his pot and content is about 15kg. how much weight does the 1.6m takes?

- FERNY GROVE, QLD(1 year ago)
Hi Thierry, there is no weight rating on these but they are made of steel, and I can't flex the legs at all. As long as the nuts on the extension legs are done up tightly there shouldn't be a problem with hanging 15kg of goulash over the fire.
